Yakitate! Japan was an amazing series. I still read the Negima manga (and watched the anime, which I agree was not as good), although it's true that it does tend to drag on a little. I also prefer the Love Hina manga to the anime, although I haven't seen much of the anime.
Yeah, I still buy every issue of the Negima series (hell, I have like 20 of them, might as well :-P). It just annoys me that the story goes sooo slowly, because it's so addicting. The next (or newest at this point? Haven't looked for it lately) looks like it'll kick the story back into the forefront again. FINALLY! Since the focus changed, I've been living for the story. The "powering up" part for the last 10 issues is a big yawn to me. The first 10 were a lot like Love Hina, which I really liked. As soon as they get back to the story I'll be very happy.
I do find it interesting, if you read the Love Hina manga, it references the anime. For example, Mei (Naru's sister) shows up with no explanation in the last issue at the wedding. They reference "that creepy doll in the basement" (which is an anime episode but never shows up in the manga at all). The only part of the series that disappointed me was the second half of the final book. Adding in the new girl to put everything in perspective just felt rushed and... blah. It was nice to see everyone grown up, though.
Gah, I have a mad urge to read all of Love Hina again! Thanks Vataro :-P
