Akira Live Action?Follow

Any truth to this? I overheard some people talking at work about them making a live action version of Akira. IMDB has an entry for it in 2011, but there is 0 information on it.

Oh dear god no. Little research shows its being developed by Leonardo DiCraprio's production company.

Cowboy Bebop is, apparently, getting a movie, too. Starring Keanu Reeves.

Yes and yes. Admittedly, I don't think the anime really aged that well, and didn't enjoy it when I first saw it, I do feel for the people that are still fans. While there is little to no information about it, the one piece of information about both movies we do have (Dicraprio associated with Akira, and Keanu as Spike on Cowboy Bebop) doesn't look good to me.

Hmm, I didn't know there was an anime (my library has all but the last book of the manga, so that's what I'm familiar with) but I have to wonder how good it could be given how much is going on in the manga--there's really a ton of stuff that would have to be cut for time to squeeze it into a normal-length movie, and like I said, I haven't even finished it all yet.

I do think that if they work straight from the manga it has the potential to be really great, though. (Not saying it will be, but it could be since there's a lot to work with there.)

My roommate was telling me he saw in an interview of Keanu that things are on hold while they trim the script for Cowboy Bebop. Apparently the original was something like 5 hours long and someone decided that wasn't a good idea.
