I guess it technically qualifies as a harem anime, huh?
You could think of it that way if you want, but it's really not. He's made his choice. (Although, I wouldn't mind him changing his choice after all those pictures of Nadeko.)
And yeah, there are three more episodes. They were only give 12 episodes of airtime, but shaft felt that was too little so they said @#%^ you we'll just broadcast the last 3 episodes ourselves instead of squishing this into 12 episodes.
Aaaaaand, finished with episode 15. I finally figured out what bothered me so much about this series (and why I only watched the first four episodes before):
There's an entire series of events that take place before the first anime series that they never come straight out and tell you about! Instead, the series begins with the super fast split-second recap of the light novel (
Koyomi Vamp (aka, Kizumonogatari)) that comes before the anime series. On the one hand, it's kinda cool how they do it; kinda dancing around the entire history without coming out and talking about what happened for sure. But as the final few episodes center almost entirely around Shinobu and she's like a tiny note at the beginning of the series, it drove me up the wall. I feel like Bakemonogatari would be better by making the prior events into an OVA, with a nice note at the end of the first episode saying "If you're confused by what the heck is going on here, please watch the OVA first. Really, if we gave you this background information in the form of its own video instead of flashing words and images on the screen for 45 seconds, you'll be a lot less muddled."
Anyway, for those curious about it (or are going to be like me and spend way too much time looking up information online to understand WTF is going on in this series), the demons in Nisemonogatari will likely be a bee and a phoenix. Spiffy!
You can read the novels themselves here, but from thumbing through a few pages, I feel like they lend themselves much better to the (admittedly unique) animation format.
Edit: Ok, reading online it seems like Kizumonogatari has also had the green light since, like 2010. So it looks like I'm just the last one to this party and everyone else already knew that >_>
