I'm sure most of you have seen it posted in various other forums on this site, but the Dec. update is holding out so much promise for the things we've been complaining about most. I'm anxious to see what alternatives they are going to add for the monopolized items as well as why they felt it necessary to reitirate their policy on gil selling and buying.

Not to mention the new quests and the chat filter changes (will others in my party finally be able to see my pet's damage without have to put up with the other party spam?) and even the promise of some foods now being stackable. Please, please, please include juice in that.

I know no matter what we do we won't see an immediate change. We all know the new items will be so overpriced the first week until they become more common that they won't be feasible. But once things settle down, I think it could bring about some good change for us. They seem to be listening. And we all know that no matter what they do won't solve the problems completely, but if they can keep it down to keep enjoyment up, I think most of us will be happy. And now that they are making attempts, I will get more patient while waiting for these changes to have the time to take effect to the point where we start seeing a positive trend again.

I'm glad to see certain issues addressed but I'm not about to get overly excited at what's in the update beyond the game play changes (Scavenge might actually be good for something! Woot!).

Square has chosen to adjust some drop rates, create similar items and alter how they are acquired. This will help a bit. It won't fix anything. If you can sell it, people are still going to jack the price to the moon, and the gil sellers will still find a way to make a buck off it.

As for the little warning and re-iteration of the EULA at the end of the posts.....yawn. Sabre rattling. BUT for one thing... IF Square Enix is serious about addressing the problem and taking action beyond window dressing, the update poses the best possible opportunity for doing so. The mechanics of it are simple.

Introduce gil tracking in the update. Pretty much work it like the banks work the money tracking system to nail money laundering and other money tricks. Look for patterns and act on them. Will you catch innocents? You bet. Will you catch the Gil sellers and buyers, no doubt. Will you miss a lot of both, absolutely. But at least Square can come out with "We banned 50,000 accounts" every 6 months or when the community gets too loud about the gil problems.

And don't forget...Square is a company with a PR and marketting department.. the fastest way to put out a fire is to pour a little water on it...it doesn't mean you are going to fire proof the world.

I'm not looking for it to fix anything, just alleviate.

It's not just the inflation I'm looking forward to. The gameplay changes have me pretty happy. New items and quests. <3 I love doing quests, call me a *********, but that's my favorite part of this game, since missions take forever to do the next set because of the need to level.

New monsters! Yes, please! I love killing different things just to see what they will drop.

It's not all about the gil sellers and greedy players who insist on driving prices up. It's nice to see that those of us who don't want to pay them may have alternative methods of getting good equipment though. But so far, it does look like they are listening, and I'm willing to give it a few months after the update to see how the changes effect us in the long run.

Though I'd love another mogsafe expansion quest. They keep giving us gobbie bags, but I want more storage in my mh. I'm the anti mule type. :D

I look foward to it also as being a great early christmas gift :P
But I'm also worried that the problems will still not be over..
There will still be holes to plug I think.

I'm excited the most about the new equipment, because having only 1 great item in the mist of a bunch of mediocre items is kinda silly.

At least in the other final fantasies the items below uber were very good for their level. ^_^

Because humans always try to find a shortcut or profit from things, there will always be problems with online gaming. I've never once played an online game where someone wasn't exploiting something. It's a cat and mouse type thing, they fix one hole, someone finds another. But the improvements they are offering look like they will bring some new life to the game for some of us on the verge of burnout. New equipment, new monsters, new nms, all something to look forward to. :)

So if there are a few plugs as long as SE shows there aware of the situation. I still think the best route may be to make more NM GOOD drops Rare Ex, This way only reason people camp them are cause they need them. You will still have competition but atleast you wont be screwed into botting or putting off that all important item.

The rare/ex drop though kind of sucks when you think about it. I have ran into nms when farming and killed it just to offer the item up to ls mates before putting it up for sale. Sometimes I will camp in hopes of a drop to try to suprise a friend with the item. I think the botters itself would be easy enough to detect and get rid of. Not mentioning any names, but when I go into a certain zone to farm, there is always the same group there in the same spot obviously botting. Considering over a span of when I started doing my RSE to now they are still there and it's where a nm pops, I think it's a pretty safe assumption that they are bot camping. As a gm, force a disconnect or something if someone is in the same area not moving and killing things over a long period of time. Not that hard.

Stackable salmon rice balls....
Fish bait stacking to 99....
Queeniexb steals 37876 gil from Playerx....
You buy the Sniper's Ring for 100,000 gil....
You buy the Haubergeon for 100,000 gil....

Just a few things I would like to see possible in the update. Too bad it ain't gonna happen. I'm still excited though.

Concerned more about the mass DC's and server shutdowns that are normal after one of these big updates. Nothing like just pulling an IT++ and suddenly your mages are gone, as well as your tank.

Yeah, I find I like to farm for about 24 hours after these updates instead of leveling. That or level my sub or something, you know a job where exp loss isn't quite as painful.

After the updates are the best time for NM hunting. ^_^

Yeah, after one of these I was one of the first like 500 people on the server and the night before I was so tired when I logged I just logged out in Qufim after elemental hunting. So I went into the tower when I logged on and ran right into one of those ugly Giga NMs. No drop but it was fun to kill.
