I was just wondering if there is anyone else out there that had a specific purpose in mind (other than just having fun)when they started playing this game? And if so... have you accomplished it?
I had hoped to make friends in FF, seeing as how we were all a bunch of gamers and had at least one common interest that was shared among all of us. I figured that perhaps I would be able to achieve in here that which I could not in RL- find a place to belong and fit in. I've been playing since March 2004 and I've made some really great friends (Deadsy, Keenan and Littlekiller.. thanks for everything guys), but I still haven't found my place. Anyway I was just wondering if there was anyone else out there that felt the same way.

I started this game because i am a die hard final fantasy player. I have beaten all the NA FF games except one i think (even that stupid FFX2). So naturally i had no choice but to get this, and i am not sorry i did. I love this game, it is the most extensive game i have ever played, and i throughly enjoy it.

i'm right up there with Acepod... I've played every FF game that's ever been released (even the JP FF3) and while some were bad (FF2), some were great (FF6, FF8, FFX, FFX2), I've always liked at least playing them. I love FFXI, for no other reason than i get to truly make descisions about what my character does! its' great. for the longest time i've wanted to be able to slap an NPC that really annoyed me (Like the elvaan NPCs in Sandy).

Also it's the first time I've found a MMORPG that's not totally on computer. (Go Ps2, GO!) i mena, my comp's gonna be 7 years old this year, and she has a hard time running Diablo, much less somethign as graphically stunning as say... EQ... *Shudder* So, FFXi is my current favorite game. Though i can't wait for some of the other online titles SE's planning (Front Mission online... oooooh yeah...)

Hrmm... Although I've been a fan of FF since FFI, I never intended to buy FFXI. Didn't want to play any online games until I got broadband internet access, which was just recently, and my plan was to get Guild Wars as my first MMORPG game. Of course, GW isn't coming out till next year, so I thought to give FFXI a try. Didn't like the monthly payments or the fact that if I ever stopped, everything I had would go bye-bye, but you know what? Since day 1, I've been hooked and can't stop.

It's made all the better for meeting great new friends and getting a rl friend hooked. :D

Now a goal of mine is to get pld to 50, don the I.M. armor and be big pimpin'. :P

I started playing in March when I found out that a few of my friends that I graduated high school with had been playing for a while. I wanted to talk to them a little more often... oh, and there isn't a Final Fantasy game that I don't own and haven't beaten.

I find that it seems to be a great way to save money... the 13 bucks a month is a very affordable for the amount of hours that you put into the game. I knew that it would keep me out of the bars and out of trouble for the most part for the next year or so until i become a dun dun dunnnn civilian again YAY ! cant wait. So thats why I did it besides having fun.
