If you have to ask people if they think you will have fun with a "dying" game, then chances are you'll just be dissapointed. I would suggest playing something that you are genuinely interested in/excited about. I'm sure you'd have alot more fun with that.

Whatever you choose: have fun!! ^^

Hi there, I am sorry to have to be the one to inform you on this, but yes FFXI is dying. Due to EQ2 and WOW, just the Shiva server alone has gone from an average of 3,000 people on at all times from this summer, to an average of 5,000 people on at all times. This game is no longer worth playing, finding a party is near impossible, I think that everyone has left this game and moved onto bigger and better games. I myself will stick with FFXI even if I am the last player on Shiva. I would get all the NM's and be able to buy and sell items through the AH to myself and increase the price to make a killer profit. I would have myself both on my friends list and my Blist. I will of course have to become a BeastMaster so I will be able to continue leveling past 10. I will send tells to the Mobs and see if any respond. I will make sure to call a GM on myself daily, to have them investigate the issue further and see if we can resolve the problem. I will run around waving to myself and then slapping myself. All in all it would be a great time. I say to you, its not worth it to rejoin this dying game.

LOL, I detect a lot of sarcasim in the last post. Yet if anyone actually believes FFXI is dieing has never played MMORGs much past FFXI itself. If you had, you would realize that all MMORGs experience a drop in their playerbase when other games come out. It does not spell the end to the game though. I personally have no problem finding parties, no matter what the job is; but maybe I am just special. ^.- As Cithon said though, you obviously have a negative attitude towards the game in how you wrote both of your posts. Denie it however you want, what has been stated makes it self evident. If you honestly didn't have a negative attitude towards the game you wouldn't keep referring to it as a 'dying' game. IMHO but it never was 'dieing'; so there's your answer.

As Lionsfan mentioned the average number of people playing at a any given time has actually increased since the summer. I don't think FFXI is dying and until Square announces they are no longer supporting the game I don't think it will. Just look at the jp fan base. They've been playing for over two years strong and no serious signs of them leaving. The NA guys are just passing one year for the PC and the playstation guys have only been around for, what 6 months? This game won't "Die" for awhile, maybe 2 years with a few expansions.

Another point. I just bought EQ II when it came out. I was kinda bored with FFXI and bought into all the hype about FFXI being a time sink and the gilsellers are ruining the world, etc, etc. I'll tell you what, I only got through 14 lvls of EQ II before I realized I was being stupid. EQ II has time sinks too, all mmorpg's will or they won't last very long. Sure it has some cool differences like getting xp for qsts and some others, but it also was missing a lot of what brought me FFXI. EQ is a much darker game overall. Also, FFXI just seems to be a more fluid game overall. The economy of FFXI is really cool. Sure you can complain about gilsellers, but wait until you play a game with a very limited economy, like EQ. I'd take FFXI any day. I also like having good maps. EQ has always sucked in that department, I can't find anything, I hate that. I wasted a couple hours searching for something that should have been easy to find and the search ruined my night. I could go forever, but since i hate typing and would rather be playing right now, I'm out.

I guess the point of my rant was just that I'm not worried about EQ II or WoW or anything else killing FFXI. It will only die when a hypothetical FFXII comes out. late.

I'm a Lions fan, too. Detroit rocks.
