Another issue being addressed during this version update is the monopoly over certain monsters and items by a number of players.
The development team is currently working on several methods to combat these types of actions.
Some methods include the introduction of similar items, and new ways of obtaining items.

Yay!!!
Quote:
Articles 23, 24 and 25 of the PlayOnline User Agreement as well as Article 6 of the Finaly Fantasy XI User Agreement specificly prohibit the sale of any in-game money, characters, and/or items on internet auctions, etc.
Any players found participating in RMT (Real Money Trading), whether it be buying or selling, may have their accounts terminated. Please consider the consequences before partaking in actions that may result in the destruction of all your player characters.

Yay x2!!

Too bad SE finally decided to actively do something about this now. I really wanted to take matters into my own hands. Although this won't fix the damage that has been done, it will prevent it from getting worse.

Edit: I hit "Black" not "Quote". Corrected that.

This is a step in the right direction! Lets keep fighting for freedom! End them all together!! /em busts out the anti-gil-seller flag and waves it around maniacally but because hes 1ft tall the flag doesnt even stick out over the top of the crowd of ELvaans, humes, and galkans.

Anybody notice the HUGE price drops today on certain items on the AH? Sniper rings dropped into 400k's (one even hit 350k) Fuma Kyahan got down from 280k to 180k and Ochiudo's Kote went from 800k to 650k. I only bothered with these since I'm a monk, but is it a Sign of the Coming (the patch)? I think gilsellers are trying on last push to making gil and selling it before SE busts some heads. Last I checked prices on sniper rings seemed to raise, but it maybe just the undercutters rings sold out and the left overs are getting bidded on. Let's hope this isn't some freak occurence, but a trend towards sanity.

weren't you guys the same ones who were lamb blasting SE over "not doing" anything? with various nefarious theories as to why? Now you are behind them 100% because they now 'announced' they were doing something about it? Apparent truths; Corporations are slow and the general MMORG community seems a little fickle. ^^

Though I am happy as everyone else that they are trying to deal with gil sellers. Hopefully Gil Sellers get the hint and leave; instead of trying to fight with SE over this.

You are such a pain in the ***. Out of all the posts of yours I've read I haven't come across a single one that was positive. You must be an a.s.s.h.o.l.e in real life.

People were pissed off at SE because they weren't doing anything. Now they are. Of course people are happy and /cheering... God, what the hell is wrong with you?

EDIT: Put perios in inbetween every letter in a.s.s.h.o.l.e because of the stupid chat filter.

Yes, yes I was "lamb-blasting" SE for not doing anything. Because they WEREN'T doing anything. Now they ARE. Go figure. So now I'm all happy and sh*t.
As for my "nefarious" theories as to why? Why not? When people get away with crap, and there are those who have the power to correct it, but don't, don't you want to find out why? Hence my "nefarious" theories.

I was afraid that FFXI was kind of dying off... it didnt seem as if Squenix was listening to the gamers who paid the bills and that usually denotes a lack of support for the game. I was on the verge of picking up WoW or EQ2 when i read this message !!! Thank goodness the devs are listening to the gamers. Maybe there is hope for this yet ^^
#15 Dec 02 2004 at 11:01 AM Rating: Default
WoW = fun

FFXI = old, tedious, garbage,

Are you sure you want to drop this item?

{Yes Please}

#16 Dec 02 2004 at 12:20 PM Rating: Decent
I havent played WoW yet but I was over at my friends house while he was trying to convert me to WoW and all I can say is Wow = Diet MMORPG... its very easy... although the quest based game is pretty cool. XP for exploring new areas... very cool. Crafting is very simple... and the graphics are... simple as well. It has its perks but from what I saw of him playing if you want a REAL mmorpg get EQ2 or FFXI. WoW is fun but it seems fun in a Diablo kind of way almost. I am sure I am going to get blasted by fans of the game for this... but I have been thinking of getting that game... I dont hate on it... but thats just what I saw.
#17 Dec 02 2004 at 1:44 PM Rating: Decent
I just started WoW last night, so I haven't realy formed any opinions on it. FFXI will always be my baby, though. Now, why did I post again?

Oh yeah...Norrain sucks muahaha

1.) I am sure that you don't really pay attention to my posts in general. So I choose to disregard this comment as I know of a number of posts which were positive. Like the fact that I have posted 2 WP to Shiva for people. I will admitt that is more factual based but there have been other instances. Though I will also admitt that I could be more positive in general. However it is human nature to respond to the threads which you dissagree with anyhow.

How I am in person is immaterial though as you have your beliefs and anything I say will most likely not change your opinion. How about you Melantes? I have always said you are a 'hater' because even in-game you were always complaining about something. Both In-game and on this forum I have only seen you post something semi positive in response to someone quiting the game.

When we were in the same LS I seriously debated whether I wanted to accept the reprecussions from dissagreeing with you or not. People do change but you yourself seem to be still as negative on this forum as you were in-game; maybe not to 'everyone' or those individuals who you consider a friend. Yet to the game and life in general? yes you still seem very negative.

Which makes this whole exchange of posts; hella ironic... and almost laughable. ^^

2.) What is wrong with me? Do you not know the word fickle? Sure SE's statements are cause for rejoice. Yet when various people switch from 'attacking' SE over an issue. Then completely switch to 'rejoicing' over the same issue because of a recent 'offical statement' for the new patch is a mercurial twist of temperament. Of course, I am sure you are completely right and there is something seriously wrong with how I see that situation.

Though what I said was not intended to be debated; it was just food for thought. If you think I am crazy then so be it. Doesn't hurt my feelings any.

3.) As for something postive: ... I am happy as everyone else that they are trying to deal with gil sellers. Hopefully Gil Sellers get the hint and leave; instead of trying to fight with SE over this.

I think I said that already though. ^^

I'm not so sure this has come at a good time. Like someone stated earlier corporations are slow. I know several people who have already dropped FFXI for WoW, including 5 or 6 lvl 60 + in my LS (this is a pretty big blow since lvl 65 is highest in my LS right now :/ ) Of course those people could just be the usual "fad gamers". I guess we will find out in a couple days, I just hope this update can do what it says XD YAY for SE if it can!

Finally I can camp NM's, and each time I see a probable gillseller I'll quote the new rule and call a GM

I just love how my threads bring everybody together. We get all buddy buddy, sit around the campfire singing that kumebiya (no clue how it's spelled) song, bring about world peace and end starvation in Ethiopia. I wonder what I wrote that made Cera get all whiny and pissy.
Why is it fickle that we're all happy? We've been doing nothing but whine to SE to do crap about the gilsellers and now they're doing it. We got what we asked for. Isn't that cause for celebration and happy words? But since Cera isn't getting this I guess I'll give her (think it's a she) what she asked for...

God damn SE, for months I've wanted them to do something about these god awful gilsellers and now when they do something about it, I couldn't care less. They can take a big freaking stick and shove it up their @$$. So what, now gilsellers are getting punished, but I'm so pissed that even though I got what I've been asking for, I'm gonna walk down to Squenix HQ and poo on the CEO's desk. Down with SE! Down with gilsellers that SE is taking down anyway! Down with FFXI even though I'm still gonna play it! Blah blah blah!!

Happy now Cera? Even though I'm getting what I wanted, I'm not gonna change my stance on SE on the subject of gilsellers. Now I'm not "fickle" I'm just an idiot. Want an analogy? It's kinda like a little boy wanting a red fire truck for Christmas, but his parents buy him a yellow dump truck. He's all depressed now, right? But what's this? Underneath the tree, hidden in the branches is.......A BIG FREAKING RED FIRE TRUCK! Well, damn, now the little boy is all happy again. So take your "fickle" write it on a big freaking stick, and shove it up your @$$.

W00T go pok! u arnt quite the loser ive always said u r <ur still a loser but u went up a .4% :P u want anouther anaology? a bunch of ppl r on strike because they want benifits, finaly after 3 weeks the company gives in on the benifits, tho they may have been against the company for not giving them what they needed now they r happy because they got what they need, and while i still dont like SE because of all the stupid **** they have done and have just done in this update i am happy that there should be lesser gil sellers soon <i dont think the gil sellers will give up
