Promyvion-Why Not Me?Follow

#1 Jan 02 2005 at 7:49 PM Rating: Decent
First off, Its kind of annoying how no one will invite me for Promyvion since I am a Dark. I guess its time to level my deleveled warrior to 30. Teupriran, I tried contacting you today but you werent on. I will try again tomorrow. I heard and read that any job can do this effectively. Doesnt it seem though that people stereotype job classes alot into classes of what they can and cannot do. I have hysteroanima. I found 2 shouts in Jeuno of people gonna do Promyvion. Next thing I know is they dont give me a /tell back just because I am a dark knight. What do you all think?

Well everyone has this "Perfect" promy party in mind. Not your fault, but it is kinda annoying.

My LS and i did one, and had a very strange setup.

SMN
SAM
PLD
RNG
WHM
BLM

We owned holla

Have to agree with ace on this one. People go into Promyvion with certain jobs in particular. These are usually jobs that can Blink or use magic. After that people prefer jobs that have a 2hr that can supply massive amounts of damage rather quickly, i.e. RNG and SMN.

i agree if people was gonna make job clases so bias for cop missions SE shoulda thought of that and tgged a disclaimer on teh box before i and everyone else whos not a rng, nin, war etc and does have the gil to lvl those jobs wasted 30 bucks. and hell im up to chapter 4 and ive done em all with nothing other than sam and i also know a drk on another server whos finished all cop missions as nothing but drk.. speaking of which why WOULDNT you want a drk in a cop mission since people only seems to care about dmg ummm 100+ per hit isnt enough? heck i evn did dem with a thf in the party and wehy not want za thf? you take a war/nin for utsusemi but not a thf/ni whjich was better evasion and one of teh best classes for soloing because of it sure a thf/nin cant hold hate but thats about it im sure he/she can kite and a war/nin with 2 swords (liek i usuallys see) isnt doin much more dmg than a thf/nin with 2 daggers seeong as the the thf has less delay thus all those small fast hits are adding up to the war hard slow ones.

But IMO beating a cop mission or anything with the "perfect" pt setup up doesnt make you good that just means you know how to do what everyone else has already done but doin it with any job setup and and against the odd but still winning is what truly shows you have skill after all what wouls you find more impressive a thf stealing from maat or a thf actually winning by beating him, and alliance killing an hnm or someone soloing or duoing one, (i know that vdeo i seen with a rng/nin solong holla impressed the hell outta me), 20 people beating down one person or onbe person beating down 20? i can pretty much rest assured the answer is obvious

if the boss hits you a few times your dead. thief and drk contribute very little. 2 war/nin shade armour tossing hate back and forth. summoner for 2hr ability. black mage to nuking white mage for curing status ailments and benediction and ninja for major damage and possibly another blinker for 3 hits until the war can get hate back.

This is the pt i think has the best chance of winning. Utsuseimi with lots of intimidation along with lots of different types of animas.

This is the PT lineup that we are using in our promyvion run.

best chance of winning quit possibly but theres a difference between best and ONLY it obviously isnt only if ive gotten up to 5-2 woth just sam... heck i even main tanked the dem and mea mobs as sam/war (yes in full shade armor) and we won after all:

skill > equipment > job

I have to disagree with all of you. let me explain before flamming me...

Jobs, skill and anything else you might want to make people believe is nothing to a good starting plan that everyone sticks to. I did the Promyvions with the same 6-men pt and we owned them, you just need to stick to what you have planned and be prepared for the worst, also, go everyone needs to have at least 2 of the animas, that's what made us win because we took time to go farming for them before each promy run so stop saying that you absolutely need a rng or a smn cause any type of job can win this if you prepare accordingly.

Another thing too, after the big patch of September, SE made the Promyvions a LOT easier so quit complaining and go do it.

Considering I just did Promyvion-Mea with the oddest setup I've ever been blessed to see, I must say that those who cry that certain jobs must be in the party are ****.

Did this last night with a Pld/Drg, Thf/Nin, War/Nin, Rng/Nin, Whm/Blm and Smn/Whm. We all had animas. The Rng and the Pld both died but we did win. Neither the Rng or Pld cared about dying because we won. The animas helped. I did two Diamon Dusts and just before my third went off the Thf killed it with SATA.

I do recommend a Rng and a Smn but beyond that.......do as you would :-) Just my two cents worth.

I've done Mea and Dem 4 times and Holla 5 times. And every time, I was in a PT with a different setup (The leader always thinking IT was the all-star Promy Setup)... And every time I have won (Except Mea that one time... but we were trying to save our 2hr's... pfft). My point is: The PT setup really doesent matter as much as ppl think it does. The ONLY job that I think is extra helpful is RNG, and NOT for the massive Damage Eagle Eye Shot does (although it helps), but because it's a B**** finding MR's without Widescan. I remember doing Mea with a Pld/War, Mnk/Thf, Rng/nin, blm/whm, blm/smn, whm,smn... We ripped it apart. The MNK's 2hr took almost a third of it's life. WAY more damage than mine would have done (It died before I could get it off). Truth be told, I would go with ANY party, no matter the setup, as long as there was a good plan, a good leader, and members with good heads on their shoulders. If anyone needs help, Send me a /tell. "Averie"s the name. I have a Ninja and a Ranger that are both equiped for promys. Not only do I like helping, Promy's are fun. (Am I the only one who think it's pretty in there?)

I like it inside of there. I went in with pld/thf to farm. Got close to 3k exp inside of there in about 5 or 6 hours of farming for recollections for the animas. Spent 3 hours trying to get pain in mea lol! Then I read the boards and discovered that pain drops in Dem :-).

Also got 4 Fleeting memories. 48k anyone? 'bout dropped my jaw when I found out Fleeting memories sell for 12k in Jeuno.

you cant get a party because its easier to win with the better party set up.

and since these can take a couple hours people dont want to get there and lose cause they had you along instead of a job that could have helped more.

and before everyone flames me for saying this. probably about 75% of the people that i have partied with (currently going on my like 4th month) have been n00bs. I've run into darks at level 50+ that didn't have scythe leveled thats their A+ weapon. I've run into blms that didn't know how to MB 50+.

So yes any party of good players can beat it. You keep looking for them and i'll do them with average players and the ideal setup.

to be honest, drk is very useful after chapter 2.

drk/whm is the way to go if you want to do CoP missions. basically, that is a melee that deal decent damage and lots 1/2 a mage. so, the pt effectively has 1 melee + 0.5 whm if you control it well.

chapter 2 and chapter 3 is very startgic, no limitation of melee as long as they can do decent SC. chapter 4 is annoying, ppl will want rng there because chapter 4 will cost you 4 to 5hrs.

chapter 5 must need specific jobs for 1 of the BCNM because of the situation it is, only rng, rdm, mnk can do decent instant damage there. if you get a normal PT to do BCNM, i can say you won't win that BCNM at all no matter how good you PT is. ( you have 1 minute to deal 10k damage, take more than 1 min, you lose).

I think it is deal to the time that you need 2 to 3hrs to get to BCNM. that's the reason why ppl are so picky. if you can go to BCNM within 30min, i bet everyone will try out all kind of different combination of jobs.

i did that bomb BC without rng rdm or mnk(well no mnk two hour xD )... but i agree, that seems to be the only BC with very strict job restrictions.

I would've loved to have taken my DRK to promy, but realized it just wasn't going to happen, so I levelled RNG to 30, and used that.

RNG is easy to get, quick to level (everyone wants a RNG in their pt) and isn't really all that expensive in the early levels.

My LS did WAR/NIN, WHM/BLM, RDM/BLM, and 3 RNG - we set the records on Dem and Mea, and missed Holla by ~20 seconds (we forgot to use our poison potions, we were asleep for a loooong time)

In hindsight, I'm glad I used RNG, we had a great time. But I'm pretty sure almost any pt config (well, any pt with a tank and healer) can do this with enough animas and a level head (an no, you don't need an alliance to do it)

Unfortunately, as with a normal xp party, DRK is just one of the many DDs out there, and there are limited spots in a pt for DDs.

If you do use your DRK, I would suggest capping your Markmanship skill, and get yourself a crossbow and holy bolts (they seemed to work pretty well)

Damn those PTs musta have sucked i admit when CoP first came out it took us hours to get to the BCNM in promivions 2-4 hours at least now every PT ive redone them with can get there in 45 MINUTES (yes i sat there and watched the clock the second we went in to the time we zoned into the Spire).

Oh and let me also add that 45 mins was done with finding multiple fake MRs

My BST-only LS is planning on trying this with a PT of BSTs. I'll report back on our success (or failure). I just wish SE had put some charmable mobs in the Prom Areas.
