um, if this game opened up in the African Continent, and someone made an "African only LS", people would find that racist. so why make a LS that excludes japanese and americans?

making local LS is just easier to organise events.
if you mix US and UK together, you can't really organise things. US evening is sleeping time of UK, when UK prime time is US morning which most ppl are sleeping XD

Hmmmm. Interesting point Grimshady, I had never really thought of our LS as racist, but I can see how it may be construed as that.
However, I am sure there are JP & NA only LS's on Shiva, aswell as LS's that are for like minded people (the wiccan LS) springs to mind, or LS's for the new European startups that are specifically for players whose native language is not English.
(French, Spanish, German, Finnish LS?), maybe even East Coast/West Coast for NA LS's.(again due to timing)
Would these LS's also be considered racist? or just for people who speak the same language, share the same culture, views, time-zone, and can participate about non FF chat on topics that they all understand can relate to. eg. did you see the footie (soccer)on Saturday, I thought Liverpool, were outclassed by Man. Utd.
The original reason for starting this LS was Time zone based, with a lot of already established LS's doing missions/Dynamis/Promyvion/quests/Garrison that would start when it was midnight/1 a.m. in the UK. making it hard to participate in these without being a serious insomniac.
This was why the LS was started, that and because a lot of the members joined at the same time and became fast friends in the early levels.

I can sort of understand why you think that it may be racist, but that was not my intentions when i created the LS. I created the UK LS so that i had people who are in the same time zone....so i could party with them, do quests etc as they would "normally" be on at the same time as me as that makes it just so much easier. So no the LS was not created to be racist towards everyone else....i agree with Lilsnag (and not because he is in my LS) but i have seen NA only LS, JP only LS so i dont see how a UK LS is any different as they probbaly created it for the same reasons that i did...the time zones!

UK only ls is just a 'gathering' of people in the uk. I'm from the UK, and.. hmm, i hang out in HoCD 99.9% of my time. LS like this don't upset me in anyway, if there was a 'NA' only ls, i still can't see how i'd be upsetted. There's no way that a UK only LS is racist. With the time difference between the US JP and UK it would be hard to organize LS events. Plus if you don't like it....create your own LS :)

I got a job working nights just to be able to pt in US time as the only people on at 9am my time were JP's and about 1% of the rest were americans. meaning little or no parties for me.
Now with the EU release i could pt my time or any time really.
LS's are Clubs. Some clubs have requirements. Some say you have to be level 60+. some say you have to speak english. Some say you have to be galka. Some say you have to be Mithra... WHO HONESTLY GIVES A /TOSS!!
and to answer your question "UK Only = racist?" the answer = no it is not. UK means everyone in the UK timezone and the UK itself including ireland. This means any chinese people in the UK, and black people, any white people any japanese can join as they are british really. British meaning lives in the UK and in 99% of cases born here too.
If you wanna join a UK only LS then move to the UK and change your nationality to English instead of american or something. There is nothing stopping you. GO! DO IT NOW!

I own a UK only LS on Ragnarok, we've been going for over a year now I think. We used to be called BritishGeezers, but we've changed to MadeInTheUK. I know all these points have been made already, but sod it, I'll do it again anyway :p
The idea of a UK-only linkshell being racist is totally absurd, for starters we have one of the most ethnically diverse countries in the world. We don't ask for birth certificates, real life names or photos or anything, we have forty members and I can guarantee we have a mixture of Brits with Asian, Oriental, African backgrounds etc. I myself am coloured with an African background for one. If we were a white-only UK linkshell, then we'd be racist. Or members of the BNP.
Secondly, we accept anyone who lives in the UK regardless of their nationality. It's a time-zone thang. We started up so we wouldn't have to sit up until the early hours of the morning to get English-speaking parties. Not that I only party with English-speakers, some of the best parties I've ever had have been five Japanese-only speakers and me. ^^
Thirdly, it's nice to be able to talk about football instead of soccer, discuss pie & mash and be able to say "I'm going afk to smoke a ***" without everyone thinking you're off out to shoot homosexual people. ;)
Anyway, fair play to Sanu and the other Brits on Shiva, keep the flag flying lads and ladies :)

LOL, I just thought it was cool that my LS got mentioned in this post.
Just for the record though, my LS isn't just for Wiccans. In fact there are only 3 of us (that I'm aware of that are Wiccan), but I can certainly understand why someone would set up an exclusive LS.
