I started on shiva about a year ago, and joined an LS of people who knew each other IRL. Things got weird as some of us had less time to play because of college, relationships, etc. We didn't want to help each other anymore. Huge rifts opened up (I won't point fingers, it was everyone's fault).
Then I joined this Linkshell called TheMooks. There's so much energy zinging around with all of those people, I wanted to thank them however I could for making ffxi fun again when i was on the verge of quitting. And also for making me want to spend more time with those friends from whom I almost let myself be cut off.
So, if anyone had an experience similar to this, ultimately meeting a group of people or a single person that made it fun again, let them know. If not here, then in game, in person, how ever you please.
Take care all.

A few months ago I was on the verge of quitting due to many things. A few great members in my LS made me want to stay since they were such good friends and loyal members.

But it was getting to the point where I was ready to leave regardless. I started playing less and less. Eventually I saw a post here the sparked my interest.

It stated that Alexial wanted to get her LS off the ground again and it would mean alot to her to get more members. I'm not sure what got my attention, maybe the fact that I wanted to do the same for my LS.

I decided to send her a tell in game asking her about her LS and how it was run. I offered to merge our two linkshells so that we could both expand.

We started to hang out alot and I was starting to have fun playing final fantasy again and started to play alot like I used to.

Things went so well that we decided to get married and now just hope to get a wedding date as soon as we are accepted.

After meeting her everything started getting better. The linkshell is growing, I got into a static party, and meeting many new and exciting people.

So I'd just like to say thanks to Alex for being in the right place at the right time and being there for me and making me feel like I can acomplish anything.

I've had similar experiences with leading my LS. About 9 months or so ago I was getting kind of bored with ffxi, I dunno I just didn't feel like playing as much, my LS was starting to get a few crappy memebrs in it ruin it and causing good poeple to leave, other high lvl members were leaving for HNM LS's. It just wasn't a good situation. I was getting ready to quit but then I sucked it up, booted out the trouble makers, got a few of the good people to come back and things were getting fun again. There was lots of energy and the people were all really nice and fun. Then about 4 or 5 months ago, we started getting too many strangers in the LS, so the closeness was suffering and some poeple were leaving and complaining about it. So things weren't as fun again. But I stuck it out again and reformed the LS. I booted out some more of the trouble makers and closed recruitment to friends of LS memebers only. The LS got back to a more close group of friends state, and then our numbers dropped because of WoW and EQ2. Also there was a huge group of LS members that had suddenly lost interest in the game. At one point I thought my LS was going to die within a matter of weeks. Then all of a sudden people started returning and we got a few new members and the energy and fun returned to the LS. So now things are good and have been for awhile. I recently backed off of FFXI a little becuase I needed to focus more on my school but I still play regularly and I doubt I will be quitting anytime soon. My fun is my LS. Without them I would have quit about 9 months ago. ^^

Thanks to the NSS and the Celestial Knights crew, it is very difficult for me to leave this grind... I mean, game. I <3 them, every one... well, those I know. Those I don't know may think I'm weird.

Stop looking at me like that.

Seriously, the grind is both a blessing and a curse. It pains me that in order to see any really awesome content, I have to get to the high levels and even then, I can only get to those levels, in any sane timeframe, with a group. Being limited in my progress, my fun as it were, I would've left this game for "The Other Games Out There"(tm) in a heartbeat. But because of the grind, I've come to meet great people. I've become dependant on them. And aside from a RL friend who's already a good friend, everyone that I play with regularly have become good friends. NOT internet friends... good friends.

Which is why my maniacal plan is to steal them away to another MMORPG game, once I figure which one to steal them away too... muahahahaha

But don't tell them that. In fact, forget you read that part.

Oops... forgot to add...
