thought I'd bump this since S-E's official announcement. If you haven't been to the POL website they banned 800 accounts across all the servers for monopolizing NMs, MPK'ing, and the like.

From S-E:

Quote:
On February 14, over 800 accounts which repeatedly violated the PlayOnline
Member Agreement were permanently banned from PlayOnline.

The users of these accounts would form groups to monopolize the hunting
spots of notorious monsters (NM). They also repeatedly performed harassment and MPK actions against other players.

Grief tactics, including harassment, are listed in the PlayOnline Member
Agreement as violations and are not allowed for any reason. Also,
interfering other players' game play in order to monopolize monsters which spawn in hunting spots is not allowed.

Based on the above, we have taken strict actions against players who have
violated the PlayOnline Member Agreement.

If you become a victim of harrasment, please make a GM Call and report the issue directly to a Game Master.

Your understanding and cooperation will help us provide the best experience possible to our players.

Has anyone seen the usual gilsellers today?

yea someone posted about that on my LS forum but as of yet no one has confirmed if any of the gil sellers are actually gone. also on a lighter note, someone also posted up a topic about how SE is changing the fishing system to make it a little more "active" the idea sounds kinda fun so check it out.

since this post came out, I have noticed the Oo boys are back, but I sitll have not seen any Superstars. I will keep searching for these, I have not checked since SE did the big ol' boot.

The Superstars were on last night AFTER the server reset and dumped the whole world. If they didn't get rid of these guys, who DID they get rid of???

Last night I saw all four Superstars in Kuftal. Also, I was running out to Rolanberry to go test a video shoot while I was seeking. I got a invite but it was a 75 Dark Knight. He asked me for two thousand Gil and I was like "I'm a broke hoe. Go farm or something." and I disbanded. He was a Gil seller. I got a screenshot of him talking to me and I wonder if it would do any good to send the screenshot to SE.

I'm sure there's more to this story but how is someone considered a gil seller if they asked for 2k?
#34 Feb 15 2005 at 7:26 PM Rating: Decent
Because I mentioned his name to my LS and they informed me that he was a Gil seller.

I dunno if this wil be a long term improvement... but a friend and I successfully pilfered some Fuma Kyahan last night... and we didnt even have the threat of being MPK'd for making the claim... It was nice. So if this is the start of a new trend I applaud SE...

Windboy, Gtorc etc. are on, CRT are on and Superstars are on...

Look's like SE did nothing for shive =/

All the gilsellers I can think of have been on at one point or another after the announcement. Maybe they're trying to stay low to avoid a banhammer? (Not that it'd work, but they're strange like that...)

It seems like it's the same story on most servers... the well know gilseller groups are still there. Ah well, maybe in time they will be weeded out.

As for the fishing, I hope the active system at least makes it difficult for people to create fishbots... I'll probably start fishing once the system is implemented.

It's just a basic bunch of BS.... In the States, we call this "marketing" or "customer service". Its to "please" the customer, to show the company is doing the right thing. In a case like this, don't expect anything positive to come out of this statement. They really want to just shut everyone up, cause thats the most recent complaint as of late. And of course, if they want to keep getting their money, they have to make statements like this one that was mentioned to "please" the customer.

IF there was any action taking place at all, they were more than likely on other servers, cause it seems like ours was not affected at all. I'm not saying they won't or didn't do our server, however. I expect another sweep like this to happen again very soon.

As we have discussed on the matter all week, we noticed that last week was the Chinese New Year. That would explain why everyone left. Why SE did this during that time was anyones guess. Either way, I wouldn't have believed this would happen only because I saw a Superstar and Gardlove in Lower Jeuno when this was going on.

I dont mean to be rude but all the supposed "gil sellers" are still here your jumping the gun. Superstars, Oo, wangcai, Gard, Tan I've seen at least 1 from each group since the night of the supposed ban. How do you know they are gil sellers??? Because people told u so... or because they won't let u camp your nm? lol S/E isn't going to ban people just because you assume they sell gil no one anywhere has any proof of them ever selling gil online. Now I'm not defending there MPKing ways but I think alot of people need to grow up and realize just beause some people make a "Clan" (yes have you heard of it lots of games have them) and monopolize something doesn't mean there a gil seller. Are you going to start accusing all the shin's in the game next??? lol

And what actual proof do u have of any of these people selling gil online other than no one likes them and tells u they sell gil lol. None or S/E would of gotten rid of them long ago.

Ok, a group of 6 people just randomly decided, "Hey man, let's have the same name with a little here and there different won't that be fun? We can have a WHM, a THF, a PLD, a BLM, a RDM and whatever else, and just randomly never join anyone elses party and be our own static, and once we're high enough we'll camp NM's cause we're bored and don't benefit it completley.."

Yeah... righttttt...

3 of them (different groups) have admitted in tells to me or my friends that they play for a living, not for fun. But you can go ahead and make best friends with them if you want, they're probably the nicest of people :P

Oh, and S-E can't ban them unless they admit personally to the GM that they buy or sell gill for real life money. You really didn't know that?

/em starts casting Blindna on Shinkyu.

I have alot of friends on sevral other severs...it seems those 800 mentioned are from the more heavly populated servers Example like bahamut...from what i can theorise theres one or two possiable explainations one is that there getting rid of them on the largers servers first because theres more of them....the other being there doing it on the larger servers to realive stress on the network....every time ive been in ordles with the crts there (there the primary ones that live there) there idle..usualy 2 or 3 other people on chyme...now honestly...WTF is the big deal im not 100% camping things but i me chyme is just a regular mob much like goblin gruel or crypt ghost meaning the item it drops is the rare drop with less than a 1% drop rate
i know sevral higher lv thfs ive been doing some number crunching and even with th 2 chyme still has less than a 1% drop rate...out of all the people ive talked to i think it comes out 1/1000 1 drop out of a thousand kills

I guess it would make sense from a server load standpoint to ban accounts on high population servers first. Then again, I always thought that Shiva was pretty high up on the population list.

I talked to the superstars. They even RB3'd me when my pt left me for dead. Granted out conversation wasn't anymore than "If you guys keep getting killed how you gonna make any money selling gil" and he replied "I know right?".

Yesterday ookk talked to me. He admitted he speaks english, I asked him how many times a day he got bugged and he said a lot. I told him I was gonna join the oo's and he started with the i dont speak any english ish. I love gil sellers they amount to a good time of entertainment for me. That and every time I see a oo asking them to join my ls. At least it amuses me.
