PL and the NoobFollow

Here is my story of last night from the dunes. This is why I do not think new players should be powerleveled by high lvl friends. One of my party members last night says he can get a PL, but his rdm friend will need to be in party, well ok, cool. I am there lvling thief so getting a PL sounds great seeing I had no abilities I was working on skilling up except Archery, and a PL doesnt affect that.

So they get there and I invite the rdm, she has no sub job, but no big deal, I figure she just started a new character. So we get to fighting.

Pull mob,
War Vokes Mob
Rdm stands there
mob half dead
rdm casts dia
rdm engages mob facing away from it
mob dies, rdm did not hit it once

next mob, same thing, except rdm cast dia when it has a 1/4 life. mob dies, I go to pull. Rdm casts stone on the thread leech, rdm was defeated by the thread leech.

Gets raised were rdy to go again, i pull next mob.

rdm - sorry ill be back, something bout the dog, all i heard was blah,blah,blah....

rdm lvls, still afk

half hour later rdm comes back, I'm back now

rest of party rdm casts dia once and engages mob facing away from it, i think she was facing the right way maybe 2 or 3 times, plus she went afk again for another 15 minutes. All I have to say is I feel sorry for this player when they have to do thier job without the PL friend....

It sounds like you got played for them to get some free exp and not have to do anything lol.

I remember being in a party in Crawlers. The RDM said AFK for 10 minutes, we said cool no problem. We could take on the beetles without them, they were really just an extra player to help enfeeble, cure etc. Anyhoo, about 30 minutes later they're still afk and we're thinking whatever, we're still getting experience points.

After 5 more beetles and still no show RDM, I said in party "If they're not back in 5 minutes I'll find a replacement, I can understand RL issues or whatever but seriously..." After I said that the RDM that was "afk" replied "I've been back the last 5 minutes, I cannot believe you'd just ditch me."

They disbanded and left. lol

I would'nt call it getting played for the fact that the rdm was the reason the pl was there, we didnt even need the rdm to get chain 5's with the pl. What I am saying is that rdm will have a horrible time when they start partying on thier own without thier pl friend.

if you power-level the newbies all you'll get is high-level noobs.

last night i was walking through the dunes to deliever some supplies to a few LS members partying in the dunes, and i passed 11 parties from the Konschact zone to the Secret Beach, all getting power-leveled.

that is SAD.

What about us old fart veterans that never got that fancy-schmancy treatment... danged kids these days are spoiled!

I refuse to power-level, all it does it make players unprepared for the horrors they'll face later on.... like Yhoater, Garlaige, the Crawler's Nest, Altepa... and Promvyion....

i agree. these younge whipper snappers dont know they're born. back in my dad when i was a wee level 10 white mage with no subjob we had war/monks and sometimes just war/nosub as our tanks.

all we had was each other. nobody else was there to hold our hands except for the JP's who rarely did anything.

Nowadays you get level 50 people who act in pts like they are level 10. in dunes you get people who are power leved through it. and when it comes to qufim the war and pld's dont know how to tank and the mages are just... well you get the idea.

The point of leveling without outside assistance is so you can actually gain "EXPERIENCE". When someone is holding your hand you arnt gonna learn anything. In the end i think these power leved kids would ratehr lose 500 exp on these low level mobs while they learn than about 2k on a mob they cant fight because they dont know how too.

Its a real shame when people are power leveld up the training wheel zones.
