Players who’ve bought their chars…Follow

#1 Feb 21 2005 at 3:07 PM Rating: Good
This is an honest question, not a flame or request to flame ppl that you think are idiots.

Last night I was pt’ing in Gar. Citadel’s basement with my 49thf. The party had just formed and when we arrived we set up a voke order… first voker was a lvl 50 DRK.

For the first 6 fights the DRK wouldn’t voke and hate ended up all over the place. We tried to communicate with him but there was no reply. (I do believe he was speaking English when we gathered in Jeuno) He would also keep soloing his WS even though he was a part of the SC.

We eventually got fed up and kicked him… strange thing is, he just stood there for about 10 min after we kicked him and starting to do emotes/says from a newbie macro palette. It was random stuff too like ‘I’m sorry I want to play solo right now’, /fume, /yes, no etc. and we weren’t even talking to him. Then finally he put his flag up.

My first thought is that he was a bot. I’ve seen the bot forums and know that they can get pretty advanced even to the point of lvl’ing a char to lvl 14 solo w/o even being at the keyboard. Although I’ve never heard of one created for that high of a lvl.

But then my second thought was that maybe he had bought his char from IGN or Ebay or something and just didn’t know how to play.

So my question is (since I’m new to the server) do any of you know of any players/chars that said they were quitting the game and the a few months later you see him/her walking around again maybe under different ownership?

Yeah I know of one, not sure if he started palying again, but everyone was saying he sold his account, and I know he quit at one point also.

Terrik, He was an upper 60's THF, but I have heard he is now a DRK, not sure what lvl, but he used to flame me all the time and say DRK's sucked back when I was a DRK and he was in my LS.

I have to admit that yes I did purchase my account. Here's how I did it:

I went to my local video game store and bought the pc version of FFXI. Then I took that home and install it into my pc(which I also purchased) and gave my visa number to SE so that I can actually access FFXI. Then after having trouble with {Connection Problems}, I did the 3 day download. Then what do I find? That I got screwed over!! All I had was 6 level 1 jobs, some crappy level 1 Hume gear, a white belt and about 50 gil(maybe 60, I can't remember).

So why didn't I start out with a level 49 DRK? I mean come on...I didn't even have access to a level1 DRK much less a level 49.

What do you guys think? Should I call the store that I bought it from and ask for a trade or my money back? Or should I call SE and find out why I got screwed over?

(Please don't flame me for buying my account....it was on honest mistake.)

EDIT: I was kidding. This post was a joke.

My thoughts are not to buy a account. For one, buying a account is just like buying Gil....it's against the SE ToS. Two, it's best to start out fresh. The reasons for this is because of the fact that you're a newbie to the game. You need to start at the beginning so you can build up knowledge as time progresses. If you buy a level 62 Paladin with no Paladin knowledge, you're going to make the game less enjoyable for yourself and the party you just got done killing.

You also want to be able to see all aspects of the game. From leveling characters to missions and crafting. If you start high, you're missing out on the whole experience that FFXI has to offer. The whole concept behind any Final Fantasy is to start from scratch and work your way up. In doing so, you learn new things and begin to see new areas, spells, etc.

In conclusion, buying characters is wrong. Not only wrong because it's not allowed but also wrong to yourself. You're missing out on a experience if you start high. The feeling of aquiring your Artifact Armor or the feeling of hitting Rank 6 make the game a lot more enjoyable. If you start high, you don't have much to look forward to.

I know someone who either gave their account away or got it stolen or sold it.

Kagemune was like 40something RDM I think when she was engaged to Kimary in game and they were getting their wedding date set. Then she went on vacation irl which we all knew about and then like a week later we see her running around and she doesn't know anyone or anything. They then said that the person who previously owned the account doesn't own it anymore. Now its some guy who owns it... we still dunno wtf happened.

I looked at the prices people sell accounts for, and damn! You can get the noobest high lvl ever. They make it seem like a 60job/30subjob with kazham airship pass is like "omfg uber".

But really, people pay big money for crap characters, check it out. Is 1k USD worth a what they got? Hells no. People aren't only dumb on how to play bought accounts, but dumb to pay all that RL money for crappy characters that are obviously made to be sold. Probably are some gilseller accounts or scammers there too.

Funny, the RDM that i was in 2 parties with late night on the weekend, either had no clue how to play or was the dumbest player of all time.

Had no clue what refresh was, and almost no gear.

Maybe thats why i woke up monday and had 3K less experience :(

I was in Kuftal tunnel yesteday and this 52drk/war didnt talk a lick of english and didn't seem to know anything he was doing, was still Rank 1 and didn't even know how to use Last Resort and a TP report.
He had to have bought his account.

Either of you talking about Honeybear? He's a new gil seller DRK leveling up to, guess what, farm then sell gil. He was shouting in port jeuno for awhile asking for AF help and that hell pay a 'reward' (He still needed AF-weapon at level 51) and Ive soloed the DRK Weapon NM before...But of course Im not going to help. He shouts for several hours. I go farming in Sauromauge. 45 minutes into farming he shouts out in Sauromauge for help...so I ask him how much he will pay and he says "reward". I ask "How Much? 100k? 50k? 25k? 15k?" and he replies "4k". lol stupid idiot, cant even realize the fact hes a gil farmer makes him getting help next-to-impossible for AF and the only way he'll get it is if we pay our fees... Ive seen him doing the emote thing before. Infact, ive seen a bunch of people do all the different emotes in a row, talking to no one, just standing there...

I bought all my characters. Sepukku cost $12.99 and my mules cost me $1 each. Stupid IGE keeps thinking I didnt pay my bill and makes me pay the $14.99 a lot, like once every month.

Death is a natural part of life, but if life has no purpose, youre dead already.

uh, well this guy is gonna have fun with this account he paid proably 600-800 dollars for, he is getting flamed like crazy on VN board.

if OMFG owned that charcter before this guy, than that character is officially a "bi*ch character*. OMFG stole that account. he admitted it to peeps online, and we had HUGE arguements about it on UchihaClan LS. UchihaClan is great LS, don't misconstrue what i'm saying. just OMFG thought it was the greatest thing... so this guy is in for a treat... does he have to keep the name OMFG?

Zack aka OMFG moved his character during the Remora switch. Supposedly, his account was hacked. They stole his Gil, threw away his AF, etc. He then, quit and got rid of his character. Then he started playing again. Before I know it, he was level 75. He said he didn't but it seems as if he bought that character. He quit again and sold his account...again.

I don't understand people like this. I talk to Zack outside of FFXI but I try not to talk to him about it because I don't want to butt into his business and bombard him with questions like "What really happened" and such.
