hello Shivans! I'm from fairy and im just about fed up with the insane prices (Utsusemi is 500k, O. kote is 1.2mil, Emp. hairpin is 900k, and LL boots are around 600k) so i have a few questions because im considering starting over on a new server.

Q #1: How's the economy? on the items i listed above and the typical Items a person might need while leveling? (I.E. the level 14 HQ rings)

Q #2: What jobs/role is needed most on Shiva? (I.E. healers, tanks, DDs)

Q #3: What Nation tends to be first in conquest most?

any other information that would be helpful please fill me in on

Hairpin was going for 600k I think Leaping was going for 500k I'm too lazy to check HQ rings

RED MAGE RED MAGE RED MAGE Don't come to our server unless you're a RED MAGE lol

Sandy pawns usually, but Bastok's been in first recently a few times, currently in first again is Bastok.

Too many gilsellers.

Utsemi: Ichi is about 260-280k
O.Kote is 800k (last I checked about a week ago)
Lvl 14 HQ rings (courage/balance, who cares the others) 12-15k.
Hairpin I think is 600k, same as leaping boots, not sure about those.

As for most needed job. I'm gonna not say so much Redmage (although more would be useful) but redmage or bard. Both have what's needed, dispel/magic finale and refresh/ballad. Depending if your mage or melee will dictate what you'd rather have. I'd want alot more bards, Crayola would prefer more redmages. Either way, we need lots more of both!

As for the nations, I'm gonna disagree with sweetcheeks there. Windurst for the lead, up until a two or so months ago, Windurst definetly, sandy started to win alot, but 2 weeks ago, and again this week, Bastok took 1st. And between those two weeks, in was Windurst #1.

Too many gilsellers? Bah, too many gilbuyers. Kill the demand, cripple the supply. Let's hunt 'em down! Lock and load!!

While I can't give specifics on the items you requested, prices have been going up on Shiva, just like every other server. It's not absolutely insane, in my opinion, unless you're going for the super-duper-+1/+2/+3 items, which were insane in cost anyway, before the price jacks. I am the typical 'always broke' kind of player, but I can survive in the economy (Buying food for good Paladin Tanking, buying Prism Powder and Sneak Oils, even saving up for equipment). If I farm a comfortable amount (casually, that is to say, not saving up for a high gil item) and sell drops, etc, I can usually keep about a steady 20K on me at any one time.

As for jobs... I've been levelling Paladin only for a very long time, which is 52 right now. At this level range, I find that the most lacking jobs are Bard, Red Mage, White Mage, and Black Mage, pretty much in that order (Most lacking to least). If not lacking, they're definitely the most in demand, thusly, the least available for other parties.

In my experience, parties don't wish to leave Jeuno without at least a Black Mage, because after the arduous trek to the levelling place, and the experience is gotten, and the party ends, nobody can Warp II them home to Jeuno. (Conquest-Point-gotten Insta-warp scrolls are a solution to this by the by.) Also, their nukes help greatly against what we normally Exp against at this level, Robber Crabs in Kuftal Tunnel.

Red Mages are in short supply for pickup parties. After level 41, when parties have tasted the luscious party-enhancing gear-oil that is Refresh, it's very difficult to adjust to going without. It's like an addiction one can't get over, it MUST be had! (Or so say the parties anyway). This, coupled with the lack of Bards for Mage's Ballad, leads to great waiting sessions, for those unwilling to do without.

Finally, the White Mage. While not absolutely needed if you can compensate with Red Mages, Bard/WhiteMages, or open-minded Summoner/WhiteMages (Ah hah, catch-22. Red Mages and Bards are rarer than White Mages, and Summoners, while uncommon, also are getting tired of main healing, and would instead like to -do their own jobs- (At least, that's what I've witnessed)). Nothing quite says "party ender" like hearing the white mage go "I'm sleepy." While that's not exclusive to WHM's, I think most people (I.E. Not the white mages) tend to remember WHM's saying it the most.

As for Conquest, I find that power shifts dramatically. Usually, Sand'Oria has an iron-clad grip on things for weeks at a time, then suddenly, Windurst springs forth out of nowhere to claim everything in a likewise manner. Bastok is usually the odd man out, though recently, it has been first. My Bastokan friend Agawulf was so extatic that he bought some CP items that he felt he wouldn't get again 'for a very long time'

Wow, this came out a lot longer than I'd planned, I hope I didn't turn you off with the sheer length of it. In summary, Shiva has lots of nice people, skilled, knows what they're doing most of the time, though like all servers, we have our jerks and idiots. However, I think it's a fine place to be, even though the only 'other server' experience I had was my brief noob jaunt on Ifrit when I first got the game, before my RL friend got the 1000 gil for our worldpass to Shiva.

So if you decide to join us, welcome ^^
