Witch Belt is better for PLD Warriors Belt +1, Royal Knight's Belt, or Life Belt?

From what i have read this is what seems to be the most popular waist equip for pld.
lvl 15-55 Warriors Belt +1
once you get spirits within switch over to the lifebelt.
After that im not really sure :P

My concept of PLD is keeping hate is your job as much as you possibly can.

In normal circumstnaces in a party i will use this:

Weapon: Glutt Sword
Sub: Royal Guard Shield
Rings: 1 Verve, and 1 Mermaid
Belt: Life Belt ( the more you hit the more hate you keep)
Neck: Royal Gurad Collar ( once again the more you hit, themore hate you keep)

Now sometimes you will find yourself in sticky situations then I have a macro to stay alive:

Main: Earth Staff
Rings: 2 Verves
waist: War belt +1
Neck: Momento Muffler

As for the royal belt, its no good for pld compared to the other 2.

life belt my man life belt :) I don't know why so many Royal Knight belts being used. Whats the use in the added stats if you can't even hit the thing. But depends on your race. If youre elvaan get the life belt at 48, and lightening bow at 55. I'm hume I went the life belt as well it helped a lot in actually hitting stuff. If you want 2 extra agility then by all means. :) its your play style man! have fun ~k

depends on pt situation.

pld hit absoultly crap if you use defender a lot of time. no one care if you miss 100% as long as you keep hate and tank well. don't tell me you need damage to keep hate, pld's natural gears + abilities is efficient enough .

that's why the best sword is the +7vit ones or earth staff (also depend on situation).

unless you need to be in skill chain situation (e.g pld mnk mnk and need you to start red lotus) , you don't need to hit the monster.

are you gonna tell me you gonna use huby instead of AF a bit later because the +20 attack will also help you keep hate?

Hmm a WHM, RDM letting a PLD know how to do his job. You got to love the people that once they hit 75 they know everything about all jobs....you dont need to hit the mob, lmao, yes you need to hit the mob in an xp party, it helps keep hate, and Spirits within surely helps with hate, it also helps kill it quicker, therefore less mp used and higher chains.

go use a hauby instead of AF body then, the 20 attack will help you keep hate
#8 Mar 03 2005 at 12:10 PM Rating: Decent
Oh come on, I didnt say go to that extreme, a pld should keep all thier AF until lvl 73. We are just talking bout belts here, not getting rid of body AF for more attack and acc!!!

Nah Fiorina Paladin abilities sometimes aren't enough, Hitting it helps immensely, and at controlling the mob. The second I don't hit it all taht often the second it gets really hard to keep the monster pissed at me.

Look at a Paladin's Strength and A+ Sword ability. We're meant to hit, just not very hard :) I do own a Byrnie tho it helps when there just isn't enough DD. Just because we can take hits also doesn't mean we shouldn't get to hit back, we're not just a slab of meat there to beat on. We do other things.

And Kramer bro respect her advice man she's got years more experience in this game, lol. No reason to flame. The reason why we don't use Hauby's is the lack of +enmity, and/or Vit + you know I would use one if it had some :P

Anyways this convo is about belts. +3 Vit if you're getting hit hard, or if yo'ure getting hit the usuall 70-100 Range use life belt. So example say Goobues, use Vit Belt, Toroma's use Life belt :). Hope I could be of some help.

Also man just post in the Paladin forum because when you do this other Paladins' will look not everyone and their blue mage.

if you are taru and cat, the lvl50 race belt is the best. +vit and +hp. nothing is better if you are these 2 races at lvl50s.

ppl use royal belt because of the +vit. most of the pld need is vit, hp and def. even some of the lvl50 fighter belt ain't too bad. if you happened to have all cursed armor, you gonna hit nothing but no one really cares you miss 100% cos pld doesn't need damage to increase your hate. you have enough abilities to hold aggro. (apart from some crazy blm and rng, they can mess up your hate regardless what you wear if they want).

yea as ppl mentioned, royal belt has to be the HQ version

Okay, grammer problem first, it's Which not Witch :-) I saw Witch Belt and thought wow they added a cool sounding belt, then realized you meant which. Sorry, it's part of my **** personality, don't usually correct grammer but that one I had to.

Now, Being a pld lvl 51, keep the war belt +1 for eternity. Obtain the Life Belt as well. Swap the two out depending on mob. If you missing a lot but not taking bad damage use the life belt. If your hitting well but getting hit hard use the war belt +1.

Royal Knight's Belt sucks. It is not worthwhile for a pld. Unless it's got +vit don't use it. You can read the Pld forum for a more detailed breakdown of why the Royal Knight's Belt (and it's + versions) sucks for pld. Generally speaking pld don't need to focus on Agi or Dex or Str. Our main focus is Defense Vitality Defense Vitality and Defense.

+2 Str gives +1 Attack which affects damage output and helps a bit with accuracy unless I'm way off (is why you miss a lot when using a severely underleveled weapon). Life Belt gives +10 Accuracy from the start. +10 acc > +1 att.

hitting for 0's and missing are 2 different things.

I'm just saying hitting it definately helps. We're talking about 2-5 dmg per hit here guys... whats better hitting it for 20-30 a turn? or missing all the time and saving a 24 MP fore a Cure II over the course of a fight.

On fights that are fast, say like chain 3 or 5 and everyone uses TP and you'll only get hit 5 times yah use the War Belt or RSE belt, but if its a slug fest, nothing helps better than hitting it.

sorry didnt mean to flame, but i was also flamed saying PLD's need to hit to keep hate, and yes 2 wrongs dont make a right, but its just human nature to rebut such comments. Also unless she has been playing the JP version of FFXI, the most she could be playing longer than me is 4 months.

Sorry Fiorina, please forgive me ^^

Actually Fiorina, the Royal Knight's Belt does not offer + Vit.

The Warrior's Belt offers +2 Vit, the War Belt +1 offers +3 Vit.

The Knight's Belt is + 2 to all stats except Vit. and is available via Sandy Conquest points or AH. Royal Knight's Belt +1 or +2 are crafted items.

also man was meaning to say be sure to use war+1 belt on spiders or things that have a TP that hit VERY hard. Ie Manticores, Spiders, Galka Monks... or in Pokiehl's case TaruTaru Monks... you get the picture.

No worries about the english, I actually look for you around this board at times to hear what you have to say Fiorina :) you're actually a great addition to our server and this message board. We're all pretty fortunate :) Now that I coaxed you up... can you make me a Lords Armet :P I don't like monsters seeing my flowing blonde locks.
