What do we consider a good xp pt?Follow

Lately I've been really paying attention to how much xp/hour I get, with the assumption that 2500/hour is average. I've been in parties that've got about 1400 an hour and lasted 3+ hours, and I've been in some that have gotten almost 4000 in an hour, but broke up after the first hour. Whats the stanard amount of XP earned per pt, and when do we say "Sorry, this isn't working" and disband?

It really depends on your level and what you are fighting. You cant go into Valkrum Dunes and expect to be able to chain non-stop ( well not without the ever so common Dunes PL'er at least). At that level the abilites just arent there as well as the mp and hp supplies. There are also some rough levels where the leveling spots are almost always crowded so supply doesnt meet demand, you could have the most uber set up and everyone be the best at thier jobs, but when theres not much to pull you wont be getting the best exp/hr. I was in a party recently that in one party we got 37k xp, at about a 7k an hour rate, I have also been in parties where you only get 2-3k an hour, but everyone is having fun. I guess it comes down to how much you enjoy being in the party, does the xp amount outweigh the friendliness of the members, or vise versa. For me it comes down to if I dont really like my party members and im not getting good xp, I will leave that party.

Yeah, that's pretty much my view on it too. A fun group of people can outweigh less than average exp. Of course, there comes a point where even the coolest pt in the world wouldn't make up for it. I'm generally ok with anything at or above 3k/hr. I consider a party "good" when we're getting at least 4-5k/hr with little downtime.

I like to party with people that are not too pre-occupied with the finer points of each character. Some people take other people's jobs too seriously and hence make the focus of killing the monster less of a strain than trying to get this fool to stfu who is not doing your job but thinks he should be.

As exp goes, I mostly like to see the simple 50, 50, 204, 223 exp point chain numbers and then get a rest. I don't care how much total I'm getting per hour as long as I can see the BIG numbers hit me in the face once in a while. I especially like it when the WHM gives a total mp to pull on and the puller still somehow gives the WHM his chance to get a full rest once in a while. The puller, being usually the one with the most energy, usually gets too wrapped up in the exp/hour thing I think. When he gives the WHM a full rest, he gives everyone a rest, a chance for a drink, use the bathroom, rl things that come with having fun.

It's a give and take as far as talking goes. I really like to talk because I can type fast so I enjoy working out the skillchain, figuring who is going to enfeeb what spells, even talking about subjob quests and other areas we are about to visit. I esp enjoy using the auto translate function, and I am getting better at it. But sometimes it really is too much talk, but that's part of the fun too.

It's like when I used to play poker (/em digresses). We would love to have the girls come and play but they consistently would need to be told what beats what. Well in time, they got really good at the game but found it more difficult to bluff. Then they got good at that. But the amount of money they were betting, and when, still would leave most of them searching for why they would end up broke. Anyway, the old saying "talk or play, not both" never occurred to me because... heh,
what's not to like about playing poker with girls.

In the end, my point, the game is not so important to me as is the fun I am having when talking and interacting with people. :)

Hmmm, lately I've been in a few decent 7k per hour.
