Having seen the recent trend bashing beastmasters for stealing mobs, I thought I'd share an experience of the reverse type.


Few months ago I was leveling my scythe up in Qufim on my way to the Swirling Vortex to head to Tavnazian Stronghold. I'd just finished off a crab and turned my sights to a Giant Ranger.

I got a tell from a low 20's bst accusing me of stealing his mob.

Mind you I used no magic to get the mob, only my scythe.

How does one steal a mob using a Scythe????? C'mon it's got a heinous delay of 504.

This beast then proceeds to tell me that 12 year olds are not allowed to play this game! ROFLMAO!

This was a giant. I used a scythe. I was in a section of Qufim where you don't find parties. I didn't see anyone in the area until after I'd already hit the mob.

Does this mean I should hate all beasts because of a childish one? Does this mean that Beastmasters should hate me for being a "mob stealer?"

In the eyes of the Alla forum, yes, you, everyone in your LS, your in game job, your RL job, your friends list, your /blist, your wife/gf/bf/sheep/dog and anyone you have talked to in the past 15 years are condemed to being evil people in FFXI (regardless if they play or not) and you shall suffer the wrath of all the righteuos saviours that grace the landscape that is Vandy, that have or would never, never, NEVER pull someone elses mob.

This memo shall be circulated throughout the Shiva server shortly, i believe through your delivery box:

Page 150, subsection 10, part b: "thou shall not claim any mobs without formal, written consent of everyone in the area. If said consent is brought under controversy, the parties shall random for the right to think of claiming said mob, best of 7. Once the random is done, you shall Ro Sham Bo (a.k.a. paper, rock, scissor) between the two victors (new emotes will be added in the next update). This shall be witnessed by a new GM function known a 'notary' where you will recieve a stamp of approval.

Then, and only then, shall you think of raising your weapon to attack said monster. However, before actually striking a blow, you will say, in shout, /shout "was this mob seen by anyone or their party members?" and regardless if the other party members are AFK, sleeping or even just considering joining, you will not strike a blow. All offenders shall be jailed for a minimum of 1 full earth year and crucified on any/all public forums."

As far as the job of BST, i have submitted a draft addendum which states: "BST shall be the supreme rulers of Vandy. Any other job shall look at them as one step above a GM, with supreme ruling powers and rights. All others shall stay 10 steps behind any BST under 60, and in front dropping rose petals for any above 60...." there is more but you get the gist.

Man, if there was ever a need for a <SARCASIM> or <THIS IS A JOKE> button, here would be the place to put it....

Well, to those ppl, they can go to hell. The game is open and free. He who get it first, GETS IT. I hate hearing crap about, "Hey I was gonna pull that!" WELL SO WAS I!! I loved it when I was a THF. People would say, "Hey YOU! You stole my pull!" I'd say, "I'm a fuggin' THF!!! It's my JOB to steal!" lol.
Mob stealer my ***. I rather get crap from an asshat then have my PT wonder WTH I'm doing out there.

I've got no problem doing what it takes to pull a mob in the overcamped areas (dunes, the jungle, garliage, etc, etc) because it's cut-throat out there.

However, if I'm out farming, and I'm running behind some mob with my scythe drawn, chasing after it waiting for it to stop, and some asshat comes up and some asshat comes up and vokes it, that's just rude.

On the more positive side, I was doing a sheep genocide in Konschtat for skins, when a BST commented I was killing all her potential pets, I apologized, and moved to another area. Hey, we can't all be ***** like Barchiel. j/k :)
