Come play Ballista! Its fun, and fast! Seriously its a top notch part of the game, a break from leveling or farming (and you get free xp if you play well, 300@30 350@40 umm, possibly more at higher levels, I'm only a 41).

The games are set out nice, lvl 30, 40 etc.. so if you got a lvl 30 char, do the 30's, you got a 40, you can do the 30's and 40's, the more people that play, the more carnage you can cause!

I managed to become number 1 Red Mage last night, in a level 30 game, so come on, if I can be number 1, anyone can! And you get a cool title (Scarlet*Star). So come on, go get your licence, support your city, kill people! Its fun :)

Well I can only speak about lv60 cap Ballista's so...

An important tip: TP IS YOUR BEST FRIEND. Whoever can get full TP first and then faster wins the match. 100 TP = 300-700 dmg. If someone decides to run up to you and duel, whoever gets 100 TP first will send the other running (most of the time).

What makes Ballista fun for me is the complexity (aka CHAOS). With the Diagas and Stonega's flying around killing shadows, /sprinting BLMs firing off Blizzaga IIs into the alliance, RNG shadowbinding, barraging, sidewinder-ing in 10 seconds to knock you flat, or a MNK dishing out Raging Fists, its hard to not jump in and just kill. This is the only PvP you'll get, ladies and gents. A nice hate outlet... ^^

BLM, RNG, RDM, and SAM definitely should not miss out on a 60-cap ballista. Every job has its benefits.

BLM have access to Blizga2, which can deal 300-400 dmg to 6 ppl. Solo capacity is awesome (stun/sleep, bind, Freeze) and they make great team players by knocking down all shadows with their wide array of -ga spells.

As stated, RNG are renowned for instant damage and many times, kills. A well-timed, full hit Barrage followed by a Sidewinder can kill any melee. If you have a good team, you can rely on -ga spells to take out annoying shadows and can ranged attack while melees fight.

RDM are still the jack of all trades in a ballista. Sub NIN and 1v1 is a breeze. Sub BLM for extra nuking power to finish off a fleeing player or to stick every debuff. A true test to see who has their Enhancing leveled for Stoneskin and Enfeebling for paralyze/bind/slow. Chainspell is deadly.

TP decides the match. And SAM's are masters of TP. Unfortunately, Tachi: Yukikaze is rather weak at times (200-400) but landing 2-3 in the time it takes your target to get 1 WS is priceless.

If there's any job I missed you think should get credit, let me know.

So, come play! There's a few expert Japanese players who dominate 60-cap ballistas that you can watch and learn from. 450 exp, a chance at a spiffy title, and the satisfaction of knowing you can solo a <job you hate> is nice.

Sorry if I got a off-topic, but I'd just love to see more NA players in ballista.

Pals do good in ballista unless there is a hand to hand person with 1inch then they can take them out in a snap.

Dragoons do really well in Ballista as well, with Penta Thrust knocking people down in about 5 seconds. I <3 me some Ballista.

(Although, I have this annoying tendancy to rush into a pack of the other team and then realize that my team is nowhere near me to back me up. Death.)

I don't like 60 cap from the two runs I just did. Of course I don't have that amazing of gear for 60 cap but still.

Uncapped can be really really fun. 75 thf/nin with a Giants drink (2x hp) with bloody bolts and a pamama au lait takes FOREVER to kill =D

The other day in ballista I had been chasing a whm, Glitter, cause she was annoying as hell -.- In the process, two drks on her team chased me down. So I went up to one and killed him. Turned to the other, killed him. By that time the other had raised and was casting Aero II on me (not the spell XD) and I turned and killed him...repeated this for a little bit and finally a 3rd person showed up, a pld. And I didn't care to try to fight 3 at once at that point so I just ran lol.

But yeah, same match I definately lived with 5 people swinging at me at once for a good while. That's because I had an hp boost drink and drk's have crap evasion so I can heal off them <3

The ballista team that wins is the one that sticks together and plays smartest. As great thief is in solo play, I'll get absolutely trashed in most occasions when left to solo a few people at once.

I've been in two ballista matches so far, one was a level 30 cap as SAM/WAR (17 v 16, Adv. Sandy) and it was insane. You get so caught up with fighting, that before you know it you're in the middle of the enemy group, nothing beats nulling all phys damage with /sprint on when you're chasing a taru BLM down though. XD

My second was a 40 cap as MNK/WAR (5 v 5 that time.) and I really liked it. The fact that everyone had a good strategy to take down the other team was really cool. My rival for the fight though was a taru monk, who EVERYONE ran from, why you ask? He was a level 75 monk normally...with merits. {|Raging Fists|} {|Do you need it?|}

All in all, good times, hope to see a few of you on the field :P
