Hiromichi Tanaka, the producer of Final Fantasy XI for Square Enix, revealed that the team is working on a new MMORPG for next generation consoles. In addition, Hiromichi mentioned that Final Fantasy XI may appear on PlayStation 3 and Revolution if the HDD peripheral is available.

Xbox has diff graphics and whatnot, including different bugs. The game might handle differently on 360 than ps2 or PC. :P

I certainly sounds like it's fake. I'd wait to see it in an official press release.

Nah, Shin. The game would but messed up if only new jobs were on the Xbox. It's gonna be on ALL systems, they are just saying that there will be new jobs not currently available on PC/PS2. Which means...the expansion will hit around the time the Xbox 360 comes out. Remember, FF XI was gonna be on the regular Xbox anyway, but they didn't want to take the time to figure out how they were gonna do the online payments; Xbox Live vs. PoL. We will all have access to the new jobs and areas, if you get the expansion. Want a hint what the jobs will be?

Hint:

4 new jobs; 2 mage, 1 melee, and 1 melee"ish" job.

Summons: 3 Summons; Odin, Phoenix and for all you fanboys(and girls) yes its true, Bahumut.

Also, there will be new ways to travel, some improvement with current jobs and others.
While you think people will jump to the new jobs, some players won't. Wanna know why? Listen:

-New JA's for current jobs (not a whole bunch, but some in need, (FINALLY)
-Utsusemi: San, some new Ni's and San's and a new ninjutsu.
-Death, Holy 2, Ultima and others.
-Absorb TP DRK spell
-2 jobs will have fixed 2 hours. (don't know who yet)

New boss enemies: 3 ancient "Weapons". Don't know what that mean, or if it was translated right. I hope not stupid Aura Weapons or the likes.

And finally, for the poor, a new way to make money. Good thing is its easy, just gotta travel, bad thing is max you can get is 100k a "real life" week. But that ain't bad.


I believe Geomancer, Blue Mage, Calculator will be the mage jobs. I can't imagine a melee yet. It will have to be something very new; so it won't unbalance the game. I'd love for it to be a Pirate. If it's a Pirate, I'm SOOO gonna be one...along with about a million other ppl. Oh well, I wonder what it can be.

Hripthe, go to the-magicbox.com and see for yourself. Why the hell would they waste their time and rep putting up fake crap? Infidels. Revenant, I don't remember them being so off like you say. I usually see them put up news, go to another game site and they have the news also. Go check it out for yourself. The only problem Magicbox has is that sometimes it will be hard to find the new news or a link will be gone. Maybe you are thinking about magicteapot.com >.> hehehehe.

Agreed, Magicbox can be correct at times but like everyone else an official press release would solidify these reports. Nothing against you Bar just adding input.

Looks like it was a poor translation of an article in famitsu. IGN has a story on it now, also.

I don't care about new jobs that much. They just better give the EXISTING ones new Abilities. If not, ppl will just jump to the new jobs. The game is still far away, I'm guessing November since that's when Xbox 360 comes out. I kinda wanna get an Xbox 360 for its graphic quality, but if PS3 gets the game too, I'll wait. If ANY new job is released, one that I DO believe is Blue Mage. I can totally see that happening. Guys trying to run around getting as many mob abilities as possible. As long as the new jobs are fun and fit in.

It's not entirely suicidal though. It'd be kinda like Souleater in a way, you'll deal alot of damage, but get hurt in the process. Just like how Goblins do it. Granted they sometimes do blow themselves up, but the majority of the time we get hurt helluva lot more than they do. Sacrificing what, 100hp to deal 500 to all nearby enemies?
And don't forget Stoneskin. Buff yourself up with Stoneskin then drop the bomb. How many times does a redmage convert only to get caught up in a AoE before he realizes that he should Stoneskin himself (and make sure he's not Poisoned or Bio'd etc.)?

They wouldn't be kicking themselves in the foot by giving xbox content that's just for them. Because they really wouldn't even have to be on a server with us. SE can give them their own server, their own content and say ***** all of us we're only loyal players and hell they've already got us. Let's tell xbox users that they are getting things that nobody else can have in an attempt to lure them into the game. i hope this is not that case, but tell me i'm not the only one that can see this happening.

From the "official" press releases what ah gather is simple. FFXI on the 360x will not include anything new.

HOWEVER, there is as of yet an unnamed Expansion that is being worked on. It is entirely possible that the Expansion will include new job or summons or that one of the future "Bi-monthly" updates will add something new.

But the Xbox 360 won't include anything new in the FFXI/Rise of the Zilart/Chains of Promethia series.
