200 bucks? Hmmm, not too bad, but I'd want a bit more if possible. I'd sell my character if I quit... well, then again maybe not. I can't have someone else not living up to my hard earned name. ^^

I'd have to agree with you. even though they may offer 500 USD for mah char, {No Thanks}. Well...500 is pretty tempting. Thats an insurance and car payment right there. XD /em slaps self.

I think you brought up a very good point. Consider this: that for some people there is a 'price for everything'. This would including a virtual character from an account that someone paid for each month, invested time and gil in; developed character personality and job traits; made friends (and maybe even a few enemies o.O) only to in the end be taken in by the fact that they could capitalize on that character.

For one thing, selling or trading your character is against the ToS. And honestly, as far as a "noob playing a high lvl character" is concerned, do you HONESTLY think a high lvl ranger is going to buy another high lvl ranger? Why the heck would I buy another monk? I already play one. If anything, I'd buy a paladin, the next job that really interests me. My pld is only lvl 20, barely out of the dunes, and self admittedly, a noob. So me suddenly playing a 70pld, well that's a pretty tall order to fill.

Even if they "used" to be a high level ranger, quit, deleted character, gave away gil and gear, and bought a new one, would you expect them to immediately be up to par to the standards they once met? I haven't exp'd with whm since October. If I suddenly bought another set of mage gear, and ran off to C.nest with my 42whm, would you completely confident in my ability as a healer? I wouldn't be.

So are we being unforgiving? Maybe. It's their $500 bucks + $12.95/m, let them do what they want. Against the ToS or not. But it's me and my parties $64.75 a month, I'd be damned if I knowingly invited the future Rangernoob to exp with me.
