I posted this in the general forum but it was whisked away to the 10th page within an hour or so due to all the spam from the update so I thought I would post it here to get some comments.

***** PS (posted before as many people will not read a post this long) *****
I do not expect anyone to have expensive equipment. Along this line keep in mind that as you level most gear increases in price. 100% NQ gear is fine if it pertains to your job.

Jobs all have a role that need to be filled in a party, do your job. Example: Whm (possibly rdm, smn) - may be asked to main heal, whm should assume they are that role.
Rdm, Brd - should assume they are to support the party, specifics can be ironed out once all are present (Pretty much what songs people require)
Pld, Nin, War - 2/3 should assume they are the tank of the party, War can be asked if they can assume this role as not all are equiped for this position
Drk, Rng, Drg, Sam, Blm, War, Mnk, Thf, Bst - most likely you are here to do damage, some jobs have specific functions on top of this (thf - hate management, drk - stun, etc) as well as skillchain.

If I invite you to do a role that is unusual I will ask in advance to insure you are ready and willing to do so. Examples would include rdm or drg as main healer, war as tank, etc. You can always decline. Lots of rdm do not like main healer, too bad it's the best party for experience I've ever had (rdm + brd = WOW)

On that note if someone is invited that is unable to perform their job duties then something needs to change. If a party is formed and 5/6 are great and the party is moving smooth except for one member then what's the problem with removing them? I see no reason for 5 people to sit in a party that is performing badly when one member is leeching. (If they can't perform in a party they are a leech, please acknowledge this and accept this)

***** End Post script, begin thread *****

What is the problem with this? I see people all around on the forum and in game complain about people they have partied with that sucked; not just sucked but were unable to perform their job duties as requested by the party.

What this thread is about:
Kick someone from the party if they can't do the job.

It seems so simple. People complain about getting to Garliage Citadel and the tank couldn't hold hate, only provoked when they lost hate, not every 30 seconds. The thief couldn't pull off a sneak attack with hate firmly glued to the tank. The black mage couldn't sleep an easy prey beetle. Dark Knight can't hit dirt if he trips and falls.

What's the problem? Talk to your group, see if they see the same problem you do, if they agree then search for someone else, when they arrive tell the bad player what the problem was, boot them, invite the new player, continue.

My latest experience:
Level 56 black mage sub white mage, taru invited to a party in Gustav Tunnel for the goblins and crabs. Check the party list, ninja(Leader), dark knight, red mage, bard, black mage(me) and I forget the other but it was a melee. A skillchain is determined, the one I have forgotten will start it and the dark will close it. Pull and start on the first crab, melee shows TP at 50%, again once he has hit over 100%. Nothing from the drk. Ask the dark his TP 3 times in the course of 30 seconds and finally see:
Dark Knight: 32%

Ok that's a little wierd as it does not show the weapon skill, anything else just the percentage but everyone has a different macro for things. We end the fight w/o a skillchain and start talking in between pulls. Come to find out the dark knight isn't able to make a macro that displays their TP, it won't work he says. The Ninja asks what food he is using, he says nothing. "Why" was asked and he did not respond. The ninja attempted to give him one of his sushi+1's and he declined the trade after asking what it was and what it did.

***** Strike One *****
The ability to listen and to understand is probably the most desired skill used to party and gain experience in this game. This person typed English so that is not an issue. They were able to understand, therefore strike one.

***** Strike Two *****
They wouldn't use food, even if it were given to them free of charge. I don't know what to say here, I just don't understand. I would understand if they refused based on the price as it is a very expensive food that was offered but they did not use any food at all. Strike two.

Over the course of the next several fights we see the same tp call for the dark, it is very slow to type up the numbers or whatever it does, extremely slow to gain TP. The chain starter used a macro that called out the intention to use their weapon skill in 2 seconds, 2 seconds later they used the weapon skill to open the chain. Waiting on the dark to close the chain sometimes took up to 30 seconds. Sometimes they used a weapon skill. The weapon skill used was not always the one we intended to close the chain, not that it mattered because by the time it was used it could have opened a different skill chain. Sometimes no weapon skill was used at all.

At this point I am getting very annoyed. The dark knight (this is not a reflection of the job of dark knight, the idiot behind the keyboard is the person I blame) was a problem. He wouldn't listen, didn't use food, couldn't close a skill chain (at level 56 mind you, I'm forgiving in lower level parties) At this point I decide to check him. This pretty much ended his involvement in our party. I do not expect anyone I invite to have expensive gear. It is a great bonus when I get someone like that but by no means is it required. Let me say it again, I do not expect anyone I party with to have millions in gear.

***** Strike Three *****
With that in mind I remember a few pieces of gear he did have. Justice badge (free quest in windurst), 2 elemental defense earrings (+2 earth, +2 wind or something like that, no useful stats on either), the rank 4 bastok conquest ring (he was from bastok), an ermite's ring (level 10, +2 int). Not a single piece of added attack equipment. Not a single piece of accuracy equipment. That leaves 5 pieces of his equipment that I would regard as useless. Beetle and spike earrings are very cheap as the HQ's sell for decent amounts of money. Beetle +1 is around 12k so the NQ should be less than 3k and would have been better than nothing (which is what he had). At level 36 the NQ (+2 stat) dex or str rings should be less than 30k each, not a small sum but these will last a while. At about the same price you can pick up the level 54 rings (price is a guess, I do not know actual) Royal Guard's Collar is free from conquest points once you obtain rank 6 and you happen to be above San d'Oria in conquest. (I know this does not happen often on our server but it does happen, you can also buy rank stuff and sell it for the money to buy the collar) This would provide 4 acc and 4 attack I believe. I realize the life belt is not cheap any more. I checked it a few days ago and it was 120k. On the other hand this piece of gear will last you into the 70's so it is a very good investment. The combonation of not listening, refusing free food when he used none on top of learning that his gear would be better off on a black mage leveling his first job in the dunes pushed me over the line for strike number three.

At this point I'm sending tells to everyone in my party. This guy sucks; we can take down the monsters with 5 if needed in the same time that it is taking 6 of us. The party leader did not wish to offend the dark by kicking them from the party and inviting someone else. I asked if I could have leader given to me so I could "fix the problem". The leader responded by telling me, "Please do, this sucks" and giving me the party leader. The others responded in the same manner, they didn't like that he wouldn't listen and was dragging down what should be a very successful party.

I did a quick search in the middle of a fight and see a 56 drg seeking in jeuno. A few tells later he is on the way and knows the situation. While in the middle of the fight the drg arrives and is standing by the party with his flag up. I told the party that I had to fix a problem and to wait on the pull after this fight. It's taking forever to take down the crab and the AoE bubble showers are taking their toll on the group as well as the MP from the healer. I decide to remove the problem now and we can take care of the crab w/o him. I cast Warp 2 on the guy (I'm not heartless enough to leave him in Gustav even if he can easilly walk out). As soon as the spell has cast and he is safely in jeuno I kick him from the party and invite the drg. The drg quicly accepts and we finish off the crab in short order. We set up a skill chain and magic burst and it works very well from then on in the party.

The down side was that the guy remembered who was party leader before me and was sending tells to our ninja. The ninja told me and I quickly informed the guy that I was the leader, I made the decision and if he had any problems that they should be directed at me instead of anyone else in the party. I then start getting spammed from his older brother demanding that he be let back into the party. I explain to both of them why he was removed and that it was not a split second decision. He said he would work with him. Within 15 minutes I see he is in another party and is headed somewhere else to level. I actually felt sorry for the new party.

In summary...
Did this sour my desire to play with another Dark Knight? Absolutely not. A Dark Knight that knows what they are doing is an awesome power. I doubt the party involved holds anything aganist the job at all. At the same time they will be less likely to invite that person to a party again. I know he was black listed by at least one member when he was booted.

Did the guy learn anything in the mix? Probably not. He was most likely mad at me and possibly a few other members in the party. For that I can't blame him, I was unkind to him by doing what I did.

Would I do it again? Yes. I don't think of myself as an elitiest. I don't require anyone to have expensive equipment to be invited. I don't expect you to know everything. I am open to try new things as well (Btw chain 5 for 300 experience in a 3 person party rocks! Total for that chain was over 1,200 experience, Thanks Mrfrodo for the invite!(smn, thf, mnk party in Korroloka at 16-20 or so)

I see nothing wrong with what you did, in fact I'm happy to see people aren't too afraid to do what needs to be done. If you know someone's holding a party back you've got one of two choices: get the person to shape up, or boot them. Obviously by your experience the individual was too far gone for the former option so, you did what was best for the rest of the group, {Good Job!} /praise

We as players in the best server ever, have a duty to prevent people from progressing past where they deserve to be. I also dont really care much what people use for equipment, so long as it is up to date, and suites their job. However, allowing someone to leach exp, and continue to progress, without the slightest bit of knowledge, and horrible gear, should be a bannable offense.

It is our job to prevent these people from becomeing high lvl players, with poor skills/gear. This might sound a bit harsh to some people, but when i go to do a BCNM 60, or some of the more difficult mission, i want to be able to rely on my party members. Letting this guy get to lvl 60, there is a possiblity, that he would end up in a BCNM/ZM/CoP/Rank/HNM party with me or you. If that was to happen, it could mean the death of everyone involved. Loss of Beast seals, exp, gil, food, ect. You would think someone playing the game to lvl 56, would understand the way the game was played, but i have a feeling, his older brother probably let him play his character for one reason or another, and thats why he sucks. We cannot allow these things to continue on.

We as players seem to have a problem with not exping. If we need a spot filled, and only one person is around to do it, we let that person in. IF they suck, we dont kick them, we simply allow them to leach, so we can get **SOME** exp. That is how i still find people at lvl 65 who have no clue how to play their job.
