TAKE THAT BOTTERS!Follow

#1 Aug 01 2005 at 12:36 PM Rating: Decent
Just incase ua guys haven't read part of todays update!
Quote:
- Players will no longer be able to use spells or abilities to claim a monster as soon as it appears.
If players attempt to use spells or abilities to claim a monster before a set amount of time has passed since it appeared, they will not be able to use those spells etc. again for a certain duration.

Gonna be interesting seeing Jonez and other known botters find a new way but for now they might be out of luck!
Also for all you NM stealers!

A new command "/blockaid" has been added.
"/blockaid" has the following effect:
Magical assistance (such as "Cure" and "Protect"), trades, party invites etc. from non-party/alliance characters will be blocked.

Looks like SE is finally listening somewhat lol.

Umm... that is not good, they will find a way to make a bot that waits exact time that is needed to voke, and will be the same, and also for the nonjp ppl not boting or w/e will lose claim against all jps since they have less latency, lol havce fun
#3 Aug 01 2005 at 12:49 PM Rating: Decent
Well that would be true if you couldn't walk up and smack the monster with a dagger or something. It says just abilities and spells can't be used not attack or range attack ^^
As for the Latency as far as I know it hasn't been confirmed.
I also hear you recieve data before things appear to avoid unfair advantages due to speed. But that is just hearsay

Omg I just pissed myself. That is great news, I love this. Now people who want gear from the 3 kings don't have to cheat or be Japanese to get these claims. I must say only botters would have a negative outlook on this new update. So Takeno? why is not a good idea?. It doesn't matter if there is a bot out there that waits the time limit, his provoke or chi blast is no faster than anyone elses and now 100 people will have the HNM targeted before it can be claimed. So a botter has just as much chance as any one else to claim.

I agree with Proroc on this I think this will affect botters more than anyone else (all depends on the set time). If someone is using a packet sniffer than their ability (usually provoke) is almost instantaneous with the spawn. If they added say at 2 millisecond delay then the botting programs are really messed up (until they are reprogrammed) but the person using their own reflexes will probably be unaltered. Additionally if like it says only abilities are altered than in the time it takes for the delay to wear off someone may have a weapon drawn and hitting.

You forgot one of the most-awesome updates EVAR!

Quote:
The notorious monsters listed below will slowly grow in strength after a certain amount of time has passed since being claimed: King Arthro / Simurgh / Roc / Serket / Capricious Cassie /Lord of Onzozo / Behemoth / King Behemoth / Adamantoise / Aspidochelone / Fafnir / Nidhogg
*This time period will vary for each notorious monster.

If they made the times ya had to wait for provoke or whatever pull something random that would really put a hamper on botters. Would be funny as hell to see someone run up and punch a NM in the face for the claim!

Just a funny thought:
Imagine seeing all the people, who didn't read the details of the update, immediately use provoke/chi blast/jump/charm/ect like they normaly would to claim a mob...
"Unable to use ____ on <t>."
"29 Seconds remaining on ____."

It will be very entertaining to camp nm's for a few days, to say the least. lol
I'm just glad I can finaly sub /whm with my smn again, instead of /war for provoke... Not being able to rescue people sucks, and telling them the reason you didn't cure them was because you're SMN/WAR, is just plain embarassing... ><;

YAY SE! ~Aet

Wow, SE is on the gilsellers like gangbusters. Pretty interesting, I must say.

I'd rather see all HNMs/NMs poppable like the sky gods or a lot of the last big update. Sitting in a camp 3 hours for a maybe claim at 5am in the morning is not appealing.

Amen Meara....I would like to see this too. Maybe making a bunch of quests like the O-hat, Opo Crown whatever. That way those that work at it get the goods, not those that have more time than everyone else.

That being said, I like the fact that SE is doing something. I think these updates are good and a step in the right direction.

This is great news. Too bad they are fixing the game for the Xbox360 release. I'm very hesitant to proclaim SE cares.

NM Botters (Especially you Jonesz, you Leaping Lizzy stealin' SOB) {You can have this.} {Death}

As for SE, {You can have this.} {/cheer}

Finally SE doing something good for us honest, loyal, non-cheating, law abiding players. {Good job!}
