Taking a step back from the normal jobs that people have proposed (Blue Mage, Alchemist, Time Mage, etc) I got to thinking. Yes I know that can be dangerous, so bear with me.

What if SE added a job where the abilities were determined by the armor and items that he/she equipped? For example, certain armlets would allow the job to use one (or several) fire type abilities. Other armlets would allow one (or several) ice type abilities. Wearing one type of body armor would unlock some defensive abilities while others would unlock offensive. As that person levelled, they could then purchase higher-level or hq armor that would allow them to use more-powerful versions of those spells/abilities.

Seeing as how SE likes to make things difficult, the strength of the abilities can also be added to or weakened by the element of armor that they equip. For instance, if they use mostly fire gear they will have strong fire-type attacks/spells, be strong against ice, but take heavier damage--and deal less damage--against monsters who are water-based.

In league with the elements, equipping something with a level 1 fire ability and a level 1 water ability would result in a weakened level 1 fire ability and a standard water ability. For maximum potential, the player would have to customize.

I don't know if this has already been proposed, but it would allow for some pretty interesting customizations. A player who unlocked this job could literally customize themselves to be offensive or defensive, and the abilities/spells/stats would change along with their armor. You could literally see things like "Ice Warriors" resulting from this job equipping attacking gear with all +ice stats. The player would also have to plan ahead since it would be near impossible to carry 5 full sets of armor in addition to their other sets of armor.

I wouldn't mind this job being advanced-advanced, as in one that you can't unlock at level 30...or maybe you'd need to level an advanced job to 30 first. Either way, it would be nice to have a job that not everyone can play within their first week of playing the game.

So what do you think?

hehe. I like the idea. Would start to get hella-'spensive, but that's just what happens. These players could be the ultimate "6th member," no? Good fun. Thankee, Sophus. I read something intelligent today.

The more expensive the better. It'll force people to specialize. If they want a jack of all trades (and master of few), they can always get a RDM.
