Teleport TroubleFollow

Normally I don't post on the server forum, but since this happened on Shiva I thought I would talk about it directly on Shiva.

Sometimes it seems like no one is teleporting. And when I finish whatever I'm doing, and people are spamming for teleports, I'll start inviting people to get them out of there and reduce some spam. 500 gil, 1000 gil... None of it is a whole lot, so it's not what I'll usually do for "money". Heck, a lot of times people will 'forget' to pay. I don't care too much. If someone offers gil for a teleport I expect it (for integrity's sake), but I don't get my panties in a bundle if I don't get 500gil.

So, a little more backstory. On Sunday my ISP took our DSL connection down to upgrade it (our DSL is very old, they make them differently now). Lots of problems. Long story short, our internet was down for almost 3 days, and we were still doing things like changing settings on the router.

So earlier today I was doing teleports. I'd just teleported a group to Altepa, and someone ran off without Sneak and got aggro. So I also helped them fight off the monster. When I warped back to Jeuno, I was getting low on MP and would need more to do a set of teleports.

I invited people like normal and was going to hop in the Mog House for MP. My LS member shouted for a teleport, so I invited him, too. One of those people, Cleric, happened to be standing next to the Mog House and hit "Trade" when I was about to go in. So I paused for a second to take the gil (after all, so often people don't pay at all). Then I went in my Mog House and got stuck on a "Downloading" screen for awhile. Too long for a DSL. I knew something was wrong so I ALT-tabbed out of full screen mode and found my connection had died.
Turned out our IPs were still static and our ISP was changing them to dynamic, which meant a momentary glip in the connection.

It only took a minute, but I figured in that time they'd probably grabbed other teleports, so I was just going to give Cleric his gil back.
So I log back in and immediately /tell him with an apology. I hop back out of the Mog House and offer to trade him back his gil, which he wouldn't take.
I found out my LS mate, Ryuugan, had offered to pay people back when I disconnected (because he knew me, he knew I'd had connection problems before and he knew I wouldn't ditch people like that).
He offered Cleric 5000 gil which he refused to take. Another person in the party had lied and said she had paid, which she couldn't have because I wasn't even in Jeuno. I was in my Mog House. But Ryuugan didn't know that so he gave her 500gil.

I then /telled Cleric to ask him what I could do as a remedy, and he refused to give any solution. He insisted that I was a scammer, even though that made no sense at all. Who was I trying to scam? Myself and my LS mate out of 6500 gil? Why would I log back in right away and run over to give him gil? Seems like a pretty poor scam.

Now, I don't curse. I've always had a pretty strict thing against cursing, and the worst I say is usually "hell". I wish I could say it was only because I was holy and pure, but it's also because if you argue calmly and politely it makes it very hard for someone to point at you and say, "See?! He's being so rude/unreasonable/insertwordhere". So I never cursed at him, and I asked several times in various ways what I could do to 'fix' this situation, because I certainly couldn't have stopped myself from getting disconnected, and he absolutely refused to answer with a legitimate response. He told me he reported me, he told me he shouted about me in Jeuno, he told me that he was going to charge all my LS mates for teleports (hello, didn't you notice I was teleporting them?), and he told me he was going to keep saying bad things about me.

I told him I was going to mail his gil back, because no matter what he thought or how much he tried to bother me, I wasn't going to lose my integrity over 1000gil. So I removed something from my mailbox and mailed the gil off, because then he couldn't refuse it. And that gil has since been delivered so he's gotten it back.

Right now I'm expecting an apology next time I see him for cursing and yelling at me over something that I couldn't help and tried to fix instantaneously, without him having to ever poke at me to try and fix it. I'm not mad at him for being upset; He didn't know me, and I unexpectedly (to both of us) disappeared. But he had no reason to be so rude, try and spread rumors about me, and refuse to let me remedy the situation. To me, that is someone who just wants a reason to complain.

I was also upset that someone lied about paying over 500gil. I think it's an awfully pathetic thing to give up your integrity for 500gil. I know it's not much and it didn't break Ryuugan's bank, but I like to believe the best in people and hearing that just made me feel like someone lying over $1. Who cares that much? Not only that, but Cleric (if I were to believe him) said the THREE people said they had paid me, when he was the only one that did (and therefore, would have meant more people lying, although Ryuugan said he only paid that one and I believe him far more than I believe Cleric). I'm pretty sure that's false, though. I was in the party, he was, and 3 other people including my LS member. My LS member doesn't pay me to teleport, so unless he's including himself, I think he was making up that number (and that would just mean everyone else in the party lied, and that's pretty sad).

It's a bit annoying when people don't pay for teleports. It's even more annoying when people will lie about paying so they can get some free gil.

I'm not too worried about it. But I figured, if he wanted to keep telling people I'm a scammer, I'd at least tell my side of the story.

And I also want to give him a chance to remedy his side. You know, maybe he was having a bad day and acting up? I just hope he doesn't try to say that I never gave him back the gil, now.

Little update. I spoke to him again.

No apology yet, but I have a feeling he doesn't "haterz" me anymore. I even got a 'lol' out of him. So I'm going to keep trying.

Yes, I, too, appreciate WHM's, my in-game wife is one..

She, like other WHM's, goes out of her way many times to help people, especially me. Offering her services in any way needed, or that can help with a matter..

People don't appreciate WHM's as much as they should be, but I do, and so do some others. :)
