Just wondering your guys' take on this. I found it on the main page and did one of my standard 50-page rebuttals. All the responses were very like-minded which means I'll get rated down for it...that doesn't bother me :).

What bothers me is that the only people who responded were so like-minded that others with valid opinions may be afraid to post opposing positions for fear of a karma nuke.

What do you guys think on the OPs position?

Well it would appear that I was right :)

As I stated, I posted my opinion on the subject because all the groupthink was sad and depressing. I understand that PL are not always necessary nor needed...but attacking someone for helping you?

You guys are familiar with my style, and I attack the issue, not the person. Well a person from that thread didn't like what I had to say, but had nothing to bring to the table. Aaaand he could only rate me down once per post. So what did he do? He rated down all my posts :D

But hey, I expected it. So to test something, on my last post I put what server I was on. Low and behold, I come back and this thread (which only said to check out that link and give your opinion) was rated down. Thankfully the "recent visitors" button only has 8-17 people from Shiva, so this person was easily identified :D.

So anyways, please read over that thread and tell me what you guys think about the situation. It would be nice to have an honest talk on the issue, rather than a 1-sided **********

I've read the OP a couple of times, and Erawyn's primary position seems to be; "Being power-leveled ruins the standard party dynamic." In that light, Erawyn is pretty much right.

He also states right out, he doesn't like it. Indeed, he feels so strongly about this, that he feels the need to push the point:

Erawyn wrote:
>> In a silent protest to this party and to PLers,
>> I turned my blockaid feature on.

So instead of just leaving with a polite party message, he decides to use the /blockaid feature. A creative tactic, but seems non-sequitur to me.

The fact remains, his party had a PL'er and that Erawyn chose to stick with that party. Given that decision, it was in his best interest to figure how to make things go smoothly. Instead, it appears Erawyn decided to be bur in the side of the party leader and the power-leveler. That's the bit I don't agree with.

I remember when I first read his/her post. You could literally see the question mark pop over my head.

Before you read below, keep in mind that this is just my commentary on what went through my head as I read his/her post. I had to bite my tongue on the actual post I made.

The way it read, his/her post was pretty much "I know what I'm talking about, it's these guys who are all idiots." I could tell that that's what they were trying to get across but when I read it I couldn't help but think "Huh?"

1) You pulled a mob when there were only 2 of you there, one that could have easily wiped both of you (and did wipe you). Not only did you not say anything until after you pulled it, but you got mad for the other guy not helping you out as soon you voked?

2) You didn't bring any equipment lower than level 10, so when you wiped from that mob you delevelled. Since it wasn't "your" fault, you had the pt let youleech exp from your pt until you could wear your gear again. Then you complained when the DRG "leeched experience" by going AFK for a few minutes while his buddy PL'd you. How is his leeching any different than yours?

3) You had a PL who was taking care of all of your healing, but you got mad when the PT leader invited a melee once the WHM left to make your exp go faster?

4) Even though you didn't like PLers, you stuck around for 5 battles (until the PL left) before you did anything about it. To show your protest, you didn't leave your party after the second PL came. No, you turn on /blockaid on to make the PLs job more difficult. Why not just leave the party and have it over with?

5) You blamed a rank 10 for being narrow minded, then you "shut him up" by saying that he had no room to talk because of his poor job choice. He was a DRG, and you implied that DRG suck and are useless so he should shut up and listen to you. Wait...who was narrowminded again? (this comment was made on one his reply, not in his OP)

Quote:
There was one point of the party where I completely ******* out the DRG. He was being a complete asshat saying that if I didn't take blockaid off, he was gonna kick me. I told him "Dude, you REALLY shouldn't be talking. Let's just say with you job choice, you have no room to be an elitest *******." He shut up real quick, and didn't throw a word my way the rest of the party. (I have nothing against dragoons, I was just pointing out a fact.)

But anyways, all that is off-topic. What got me is that people looked past all of that and simply jumped on the bandwagon "people who PL suck and they are a detriment to the game." Being the bull-headed person I am at times, I couldn't let that stand undefended. Call me crazy, but I actually appreciate when someone is doing something to help me.

yeah silent protest.... should have just left if he didnt like PL. Thats like saying something should be against the law, but doing it anyway. If you dont agree with it dont participate in it.

Basically it boils down to, he doesnt like the method he got the exp but the lure of the fast easy exp was too good for him to leave. And frankly lets face it if you have mulitple jobs above 30 there is very lil reason to waste time dieing and getting slow exp if you dont have to. If your a noob you shouldnt get PLs you should learn how to play the game properly. But if this is your 10th job you plan on getting to 75 then there is nothing wrong with a PL.

The best way to win is to score more points than the other team!

And no, I've never posted in the assylum. You must have me confused with another asshat.

Nope, in fact I just went to the Assylum right now to make sure that someone isn't posting with a like-name. Second time I've ever been.

Sorry troll man, it's not me. But maybe if you lay our some sweet rice cakes and a bear trap you'll find the guy who stole your trollie lunch money!

Omg so funny... that one entertained me the most. XD It was all one sentence too lol. Go back to elementary school, kid. Make sure you pay extra attention in English class.

To the OP, I will admit I've been pl'd many many times... >.> Fast exp is fun, but I will also admit that too much PL'ing can make a bad player. If I'm in a newbie party (most likely in valkurm or qufim), and it's getting PL, I still try to give them pointers on how to play and stuff. If my BF is pling the party, I tell him to make sure he doesn't make himself main tank if the tank of the pt is a noob, lol. Warriors/PLDs that don't voke at 30 is really sad, and even more sad in higher levels. Might as well teach em when they're young.
