shiva code of conduct!Follow

Hello! as you all know scammers and bot'ers are a threat to our peaceful way of "life" in ff11...
I know they will always exist and that scams will never stop but we need to begin to stand agianst that, in other games ppl cheating is immpossible to stop and it ruins it i.e. diablo2
but in ff11 ( wonderful game so glad i bought it!) word of mouth is a very powerful thing and cheaters don't get away with anything.
I know that GM's control alot of things and sometimes (rarely...) they will punish offending players BUT! this is our game! shiva is our world! It is up to us to punish offending players in our own ways i.e. Refusing to party, kicking them out of LS's and other ways ( i bet we all can think of sumthing) so i propose that several ppl get together and draft a code of conduct and present it to leaders of shivan LS's, once we all agree then those rules will be enforced on those that would break them, hopefully we will seldom use it, but I hope that anyone who is thinking of scamming knows the consequences, not partying might not stop the player but it will sure as heck stop his xp and advancement in lvl.( boycotting is also an option) plz give me feedback, and whether or not you think this is worth anything.

unfortunately there are way too many people who do not use this board to make something like that effective. in a perfect world i would say its great but there are too many players and LSs for that to work ><. not to mention this game has enough rules and waaaaaaay more than its share of whiners. im tired of hearing "so-and-so" is a ******** and whatnot. ya dont like it? /blist or quit the game

i'm pretty sure it would be easy to bring the written form of the code ingame...but yeah i see that it would need to reach a bunch of busy ppl...especially in jeuno where ppl are always doing /sh and asking for teleport dem/mea/holla ect. i'm sure if we're serious about minimizing scams and evil ppl that we will find away to reach the masses of our world.

I think a Shiva code of conduct is utterly stupid crap.

Square-Enix already put into place a Terms of Agreement that I have to agree to every damn time I log into FFXI. These rules cover everything from MPKing, spamming /tells, player griefing, harassment, scamming, etc. Not alot of people ratio wise read these forums. And even less of those would read this specific post. So what, you'd get like 10 people, who aren't in any way selected as a representative of the players of Shiva, and come up and write all their own rules and expect 5,000+ to obey them "or else"?

Yeah, good luck with that. My own "code of conduct" is simple as hell. Don't do stupid sh*t. I don't mpk, I don't steal, I don't scam. You want to know probably the worst thing I've ever done? I got a /tell from a Japanese player the other night asking for a Teleport Dem while I was bazaaring in Bastok Markets. I sent him a /tell back "NA onry". He sent me some gibberish back, I laughed, and he sent me a tell letting me know he blisted me.

See? Wasn't that wondeful? Tools created by SE took care of the entire situation. I used the auto-translate function and a few choice words to get the point across that I'm sometimes a jackass and I didn't want to be bothered, and be /blisted me.

If you and your little buddies write up rules and expect me to obey them, I'm just gonna laugh. This is a videogame, treat it as such. The one thing you just have to remember it's just a virtual world played by real people, act accordingly. I don't steal in real life, I don't steal in game. I am an ******* in real life, and sometimes I'm an ******* in the game. Why hide my personality?

If you don't want to party with a known scammer, don't. If you don't party with gilsellers, well I'm not gonna stand in your way. I don't party with those indivuals myself, and a large portion of peole I know don't either. Look, your "enforcements" are already at work long before this post was written. It's human nature, most people don't like to associate with the corrupt and unjust. We don't need some damn guidelines to make us be that way.

Regardless of whether or not people scam, others will continue to invite them to a party because they personally couldn't give a sh*t. People are in the level grind to lvl 75, do you really think some guy who ran a casino back in January and scammed a thousand gil is gonna be enough to keep them from that? I sure as hell don't think so.

You want feedback, I gave it to you. And in case you missed out what I was trying to say, I don't think it's worth anything.

I applaud you angryavenger for your idea. I feel that you have only good intentions planned. However, there is already a code of conduct. It may not be written, and may not be followed to the T, but ask Bobbyjai, Navan, Glodenchild, (damn i forgot the other peopls names). They are either miserable, or have quit the game, because word of mouth does spread insanly fast. If someone scams another, and there is proof enough for the masses to beleive it, then that news spreads fast enough, that anyone who knows anyone, or reads any server forum, will find out about it. Thus the shiva code of conduct.
