Okay, Im a level 14 RDM and i cant seem to get a party whenever i got to the dunes, Ive been there bout 6 times but to no success.
Ive got decent equipment (due to me selling mout carps, level 9 fishing yay!!) and i also started clothcrafting too.

Am i doing something wrong? It keeps bugging me that i was talking to a level 11 RDM on the ship to selbina, and now hes level 31 which the some other jobs unlocked.

Im sooo jealous lol is there any linkshells too, its kinda getting lonely just me on my own. It would be nice to chat to someone while im not being wanted or summat Y.Y lol

If there isnt than its okay i guess lol

Just start your own parties and get a good setup if possible..and play for an ungodly amount of time. LoL
I'd say play for 72 hours straight and you should be there. >>

At low levels, especially in the dunes, there is usually a shortage of white mages, and many will want red mage to be main healer. I personally hated this, and ultimately gave up red mage before I even got out of the jungles. It's very likely the other guy was willing to play the job to fit the needs of the parties - in other words, focus completely on being a healer.

Now, RDM will never be as good as WHM, and this is especially true at the lower levels. RDM just doesn't get access to decent healing spells until a bit later. But when you're in the dunes, something is better than nothing, and so the burden usually falls to RDM or SMN, sometimes even asking BLM to heal if they have a WHM subbed.

My only suggestion is that you change your gear focus away from any sort of melee (sword, scale mail), and focus more on magic attributes. Get sanity rings or eremites, get a wand, make sure you have a justice badge, and the Friar's rope is great at your level. Read up on the RDM forums on this board. There is a lot of debate about whether RDM should melee - personally I am one of those that thinks RDM should not melee in most party situations, but there are always exceptions.

If you don't want to give up melee, and you don't want to be main healer, that is certainly your prerogative, and I don't advocate doing anything you don't want to. But realize that the reason others may get more invites than you is because they may be willing to adapt their play style to the wishes of others. I am by no means saying you have to do this, but if you want more party invites, this could be a big reason why.

Part of going through the dunes is just luck. Somtimes you can get in on great parties, other times you can wait hours on end. I simply suggest trying to solo in LaThienne or the Highlands while waiting for an invite. Slow xp is better than none, and it also gives you the chance to farm a bit - try targeting mobs that have drops you can stack and sell on the AH.

Oh, and as for linkshells, most of the time when you party you will meet a few people you really like (and others you don't , of course). If you are having a good time in a party, ask one of them if they can join their linkshell. They might say no, but usually people are more than willing to hand out pearls there. I'm sure you'd also be welcomed in Fable Unity, since membership is wide open. visit www.fableunity.com to learn about the group (go to message boards) and talk to Sophus or one of the pearlsack holders.

Best of luck to you.

I found it useful to carry two sets of gear: one for spell casting, one for melee. That helped me fit into whatever role the party needed me in. Often, I'd use both in the same party.

Ok, I am assuming this is your first job?

First off good job on fishing for gil. That is one of the best ways to make gil at low lvls if you ask me.

Did you ever put up your seek flag? I know this sounds like a silly question, but if you forgot that step, this might be the main reason you havent been getting invites.

Second is, be willing to be main healer, because chances are thats the job you will be doing for a bit.

Third is you can out a search comment (go to menu, search, exp party, and type your message). Something like Main healer ok good gear ect.

Also if you have the gil, grabbing yourself some pie (for the MP + effect) or ginger cookies (for the MP regen while healing), will help out ALOT.

Good luck,, and hang in their.

Well i wanna say thanks to all of you who have taken the time to reply. First off i prefer to play my RDM as a mage than anything else lol.

Yeah i got a sword just in case someone wants me to do an extra point of damage and i got a willow wand+1 for spellcasting.

Yeah, i put my seek flag up (the green explanation mark)and ill try that search comment thing then, and no my name is white as far as i can remember.

Also if you dont mind could someone look at my profile and see if my gear is good and if not could you please give me any recommendations on somethings.

Thank you very much

EDIT: I rated everyone up, to show my appreciation

Gear looks ok for a first job user. I would say get rid of the fishing gloves and use maybe royal footman gloves (forget if rdm can wear those) they cost like 3,000 gil and will be much better. Pick up a rabbit mantle for your back, the 2 Def helps a little and the NQ version only costs like 500 gil. Earrings are good for now, having added resistance to fire and water in the dunes is good seeing you fight mobs with both of those attack based elements.

Right now with RDM you are the 'jack of all trades' ... I would say to you, at level 14, be willing to do whatever it is that the party needs. I started out as rdm and it's tough sometimes in the beginning. Don't be discouraged. As you progress higher and open up your sub-jobs you will have more party invites that you'll ever need! In the meantime; keep up the good work at making gil; buy food and the best gear you can; keep that party flag up and be willing to do whatever it is the party needs!

A lot of that stuff is quest items, so you can just do the quests to clear them out. Another thing you can do is to put a bronze bed in your moghouse, which will trigger a quest that lets you get 10 more space in your safe. I think you have to have level 3 fame in your hometown to do it offhand, but it may be level 2. You can find the quest on this site by going to Quests -> By Type -> Storage.

Anytime you have itmes you don't know what to do with, I suggest you come to Allakhazam and go to the "Item Lookup" under the Equipment heading on the left. Type in the name of the item, and it will let you know what it's used for. Many R/EX items are for quests; I know you can trade those mandy buds and the lost letters in Windurst Walls (the letter guy is by the AH, and the buds go to Yoran-Oran I think).

Also, don't throw any beastmen seals away - these become very valuable later on as they allow you to do BCNMs where you fight a battle to obtain treasure. If you don't already know how to "stack" your items, look at the right side when you open the storage menu (I know it's triangle on PS2 controller, and I think + or - on keyboard). Just do "auto" sort, and anything stackable will go together.

One thing a lot of people do is create a second or even third character (each one is $1 more a month) - these are called mules, because you use the delivery box to send items between the characters. Personally, I have one mule that I store extra gear and stuff on, and another mule that I send misc. items to - especially when I'm waiting to get stacks. That mule has like 10 silks, 6 bird feathers, etc. As I continue to send stuff to him, I'll get stacks and then let him sell it on the AH. Of course, the only options to increase space for Rare/Ex items is to do one of these, which can take quite a bit of gil:

1. do mog house expansion quests
2. do gobbiebag quests (in Jeuno, need some fame to start these)
3. buy furniture with extra storage space - a word of advice, if you are a fisherman and want to catch fish instead of items, don't buy armoires, or you'll end up with a ton of copper rings and rusty subligars. I opted to buy a few bookcases, and since so many crafts use fire crystals, I get a slight added bonus from the moghancement: fire.

Well all, I made it to the dunes and got into my first party, and it was sooo cool, i was casting slow, blind and paralyze and then back up heal, got another black mage so i became a melee for a while and i started off doing skillchains which i actually enjoyed lol.

Might have a career change now, and then i leveled to 15 yay!! but then the party broke up lol.

Thanks for the advice all.

P.S. Nobles bed cost alot!!!
