Low level people are the best. They may not be able to HNM, but they keep reminding us what we love about the game :)

Give the guy a break. Did you even read the whole thing? He had another post where he explained why he sold the account. When you have to choose between real life and video games, and getting rid of your video game will land you good cash to help support yourself, which would you choose? If the guy's telling the truth and his loans fell through than he was probably not in a really good place financially. I'm not for selling accounts but armed with the knowledge that someone will pay good money for one, I would sell mine if I were in a compromising situation. I'm far more against people who buy accounts... doing the work and than being forced to quit, but getting some compensation for it is logical (even though, yes, selling accounts, promotes someone else's buying accounts) but buying an account and pretending all the hard work someone else did is your own... that's whats really obnoxious.

Still you understand what I'm getting at. If you had to choose between being able to afford your college education and selling your Final Fantasy account would you really not sell it just because it would be 1 extra account on the already flooded market? More than likely some company gave him cash for it instantly and has it up for sale on their website. The account might not ever sell. Or it might take months. He didn't hand it over to someone directly and he got money to help him with his expenses while, according to his posts, he works his *** off trying to stay in school.

This is true. It's against the rules. Maybe he shouldn't be allowed to come back. However, maybe if SE had started enforcing that long ago a lot of people wouldn't have sold their accounts. This is just speculation as I hadn't thought of that angle before. However, I bet if SE was enforcing this the amount of accounts available on the market would decrease. As I said, I am against selling and especially buying accounts but, given this guys circumstances, I can understand why he did such. And he admitted to it which is also a decent thing of him to do. Unfortunately in a game as big as Final Fantasy, or within a company the size of SE you cannot begin making exceptions for some people based on their reason for taking part in a prohibited act, however, if I had to pass judgement here, I'd say his behavior was selfish, but excusable only due to the severity of his conflict. Of course under any other circumstances, i.e, wanted more spending money, etc. I would frown upon this act much more. This however, simply deserves a slap on the wrist and some disaproving words.

It's still personal choice. Just because you have to sell your account to support your real life doesn't mean you enjoy letting somone take credit for your work.

As with Gil buying, there wouldn't be a market for account selling if there wheren't people willing to buy them. Which I don't understand personaly, part of the whole fun of it is building your own character up...

But we don't know if he has an issue with someone else playing his character and taking credit for his hard work or not. All I know is his justification for selling the account seems logical enough and I don't hold it against him, should I run into him down the road, that he chose practicality over what might (slightly) damage an already corrupt gaming society.

I was just trying to recruit for new link shell members not start an in-depth discussion on why account selling is good or bad. Yes I can accept the fact that one of our members has sold an account. However I would never and did not condone this act nor have any of our present members. Also, how can you persecute an entire link shell because of one mans actions. However validated they were. I have been in plenty of parties and there have been a-holes in that group but I would never hold that against the link shell. We are a good group of people, we love the game and anyone is welcome to join us. So I will leave you with this.

Everyone is an individual, individuals make up groups, groups make norms, and norms dictate how we see the individual. So really life is a circle of misunderstanding. If you don’t like they way things are create your own norms and your own individuality.
