A Nightmare Becomes a Reality and a Hard Lesson LearnedFollow

Imagine having attained level 75, sky access, clothcraft level 86, millions and millions of hard earned gil, rostrum pumps, full whm af and blm af with even some af2 gear, and an endless list of other rare/ex gear ....all to have dissappeared. This is my nightmare that has come true...

Some of you might have played with the Tarutaru BLM known as Gus in the past. My friends in KoS and Dark Legacy certainly have and have heard my story. After almost a year of hard work and hours and hours of leveling, it has all gone to dust due to a BIG error on my part that I hope will make people think twice about ever sharing their POL ID...

Two months ago I decided to take a break from the game to get some RL things straightened out. I decided to let my cousin use my POL ID in the mean time to try out FFXI and to create another character to get him into the game. I thought it would be nice to get someone I knew in RL into the game so that we could static sometime when I returned. Well turns out, he was never into the game and deleted his character a few weeks later...and decided to delete Gus in the process. He claims it was an "accident" but either way I have neglected to even talk to him since I found out about this.

So I called SE to see if I could get my character restored. Unfortunatly, They said character restoration could only be done once per POL ID....I just remembered that many months ago, I restored one of my mule characters....and I talked to a supervisor and he said no exceptions could be made. This was a HUGE error on my part. Quite stupid actually. I did not know going into this that I could only do it once. Had I known this I would have saved that "Get out of jail free card" for an emergency such as this.

After debating whether to even return to the game at all since I had nothing, I decided to recreate Gus and work my way back up eventually. I also created a Galka named Bune. For all those that have known me, I am playing as Bune right now, but will be switching back and forth to Gus as well. I am lucky to have such good friends that are helping me with missions and other quests, so this time around its not as difficult. But its still devastating knowing that I will have to farm and get gil all over again. But this is my fault and I will not look back in the past.

So to all of you, I pass this hard learned lesson. NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR POL ID TO ANYONE. And also save that character restore for an extreme emergency, because I never knew that it could be done only once. I'm sure that most of you are a lot smarter than me, but I just thought I could trust my own cousin, and wanted to get him into the game. My BIG error. So to my friends in KoS and Dark Legacy, I thank you for your understanding and your continued help to getting me back on my feet :)

Yeah but man that isn't totally your fault. I mean you figured you could trust family. You wouldn't expect that to happen from your cousin. It would be different if you were like hey...dullahan here is my pol and ****. SE should have restored him. But at least your back on the game.

Slap your cousin upside the head a few times for me.

I'm too paranoid to let anyone touch my character. If someone were to even try to play as me everyone would probably notice there was something weird with Eisah. I know siblings and such who use each other's characters, though.

That's very sad, I can understand having an attachment to your character and all the time you put into them. I wish you the best of luck.

How old is your cousin? If over thirteen, my typical fee is $45,000. Won't do anyone under thirteen though.
