I wonder...Follow

I have a few things that I wonder what our gilselling situation would be like if they were implemented:

1.) If Gil could only be used on the Auction House or through the Bazaar function (i.e. not traded or delivery box).

This is all a player really needs to use gil for anyway. I believe this would make a rather hard obstacle for gilsellers to get money to their customers.

2.) If people could see who they were buying things from off of the AH.

If instead of seeing the "lowest available price", people were able to see who the person selling the item they are bidding for is. In other words, if you saw Linqifei selling O. Kotes versus Sophus selling them, you would naturally tend to buy from Sophus, even though Linqifei's price may be lower because you know he's a gilseller.

3.) If SE implemented a "zone life" patch. That is, you had to be out of a zone for so long before you could go back in. For instance, all zones have a limit of 24 hours that you can stay in that zone straight. As you leave the zone, your time rebuilds, capping at 24 hours.

What I mean is like:
Sophus goes into Castle Oztroja for 24 hours straight. Then, the game removes him from the zone and doesn't let him re-enter until he's been out for at least an hour. Then, he could only stay in the zone for one hour before it kicks him off. Say he leaves the zone for six hours. That means he could go back into the zone for six hours before the game removes him.

I probably didn't explain that above thing in a proper way.

This timer wouldn't affect people who are "logged out", in other words you rebuild time as you're logged out. This wouldn't be a problem for actual players, as you'd actually be sleeping. This would be a very big problem to gilsellers, as they never leave the places and would have to camp them on "shifts", like how Czardas camps the Thief's Knife.

Get what I mean?

Nice idea but I think that it would **** off a whole group of people (including me). A lot of people use mules for selling things because they don't want to walk to the good AH's to sell at or they sell so much stuff that it would take months to sell just using one character. I know I tend to use mules to sell any of the stuff that I get, that way if I've locked myself into a zone for whatever reason I don't have to warp back home to check my sales.

Interesting idea. I've seen a few games that impliment something similar to that so it can be done. Can it be done in FFXI? Thats something only the programmers would be able to answer. Probably be a fairly big programming change.

I don't like that. There are times I'll lock myself in a zone for days. Maybe not all at the same time but during a good weekend spurt of leveling I'd stay in a zone for 30 or so hours during the sat/sunday. I'd hate to have my leveling booted because I was in a place to long.

As for gil Sellers. It wouldn't stop them, they'd just make mules, level the mules and then switch chars every 24 hours. Log yourself in the zone so that you're in "Off" Status and it would only take them 40 seconds to log out and log back in with another char.

To tell you the truth I don't think there is anything that anybody can really do about RMT. Every game has it, even WoW which has been known for being tough on RMT. Short of making everything in the game Rare/Ex, which would make the economy useless, there will always be someone willing to buy gil and sell gil.

One can only wonder. The money transfer changes you suggest might make it nearly impossible to get a teleport.

People wouldnt be able to exp very well this would drive alot of players away. Because when I hit the mid 50's my static and I would exp in the same area for 10 to 12 hours with a 1 hour break.
As for the gil not tradeable this would kill the God hunts, Dynamis runs and hnm that the LS do and split the gil.

It would make the LS keep the money within the linkshell, which I believe would be better anyway. I get so upset when I see us sell and split a v-claw when newb melees will never get the money to get a scorp harness.

Hahaha, I'm glad you're not a programmer. To many things would be screwed if that happened.

DO NOT ask SE to try to fix the way gil is. They would totally ***** it up. You will not be able to get rid of gilsellers in an easy manner. As long as gil can be traded, in which it fricken should be, there will be gilsellers. Please think things through, our mules are on the line lol.

I like the idea of seeing who you were buying things from. Or hell, even picking, but I don't know if seeing the actual posting price would be fair.

That zone life thing won't work. People actually play this game too, not just gilsellers.

Is this about you getting a Thief's Knife? Farm and buy it if you can't get it.

Time spent farming gil > camping T.K. and not getting drop/losing on pull.
Maybe you'll get lucky bro, good luck man.
