Never fought the big oddly colored manticore before but have friends that did and most have said its a long, boring fight though sometimes death filled fight. Same strategy though I think; tanks kite him around as Blm's nuke from a far, and DD use TP gain moves (Meditate, Abs-TP, Icarus Wing etc.) and WS him once fall back and repeat. Fast time I heard here was an easy 30min fight.
Anyone ever try the melee approach? In the vid, the JPs killed Kirin in under 2mins, around 1:38 and only 1 death. Is it just safer to do the kite strategy vs all out melee?

i'd say only zenbotsu is close to having fully ridill/adaberkd/kclub'd/whatever members (if not already complete) to be able to try this
i dont think many shells are willing to experiment with a melee bumrushed kirin for a couple reasons:
getting the seals would be a pain in the *** (****ing ulli)
melees used their 2 hours, icarus wings (some shells do multiple kirins at a time)
not enough super pimped melees
not enough bards to go on rotation
i think wasting the seals is the biggest concern. although i wanna melee burn this sucker, i do not want to waste my shell's seals in case something horrible happens

we just started doing this. 5 min fight so far. that was with a skeleton crew.

The record on Kirin is currently 59 seconds, as far as I know. You can dig up the video and some screenshots if you check out the thread over on the bg forums.
I doubt this server will break any records like that. Most of our HNMLS's run on points systems and Ridills go to THF's and DRK's not WAR's, which is essential to getting the super super fast kills.
Of course if there was an LS with like 6+ kraken drk's that would void the need for any ridill wars really...lol. And I have no idea how many krakens are in the major HNMLS's and if they'd lend to drk's to use for the fight.
