Sheep and WoolFollow

#1 Dec 31 2004 at 12:44 PM Rating: Decent
Okay, where the heck do I find sheep? I mean, based on the fact that people are selling stacks of wool in the AH, I can assume that someone has figured out where to find the friggin sheep. I wander around newbievilles aimlessly looking for sheep, and find one or two occasionally. It has taken me two days to get 4 pieces of wool! Any suggestions?

thx!

dont kill sheep, kill humanoids that drop wool. Humanoids in and around westfall drop lots of wool i believe.

Gnoll mongrels, poachers, brutes, and etc. in Red Ridge drop a TON of wool, and linen as well. The best camp I've seen is on the lakeshire highway (or whatever it's called) just before you get to murlocs .... I always get a ton of wool there

Hope this helps

Mobs are generally in the 16 - 18 range and some camps can be tough to break before 19 or 20 because of adds, but on the whole pulls are easy and mobs respawn quickly

Sheeps occasionally can recieve wools through skinning, but isn't suffient as killing humanoids! If you really want to try sheeps, goto Loch M, or Goldshire.

Your humanoids drop your tailoring supplies. Linen early on then around 18 to 20 you start seeing wool. I was getting silk to drop around 25 to 27. I have seen a couple of mageweave but they are few and far inbetween at 27 to 30 most off of elite mobs. One place i was getting wool was in loch moden at the excavation site to the south. Wetlands orc camp has some wool and silk. Probably more silk than wool on average.

As a loose ( loose meaning don't jump and scream if they dont drop it.. ) outline..
1-16 humanoids. Linen. rarely wool
16-26 humanoids. Wool. Rare of linen and silk.
25-40ish humanoids. Silk. Rare of wool and mageweave.
45-52 humanoids. Mageweave. Rare of silk and runecloth
etc etc...

Humanoids are mostly upright mobs that walk on 2 legs. humans, ogres, trolls, goblins, orcs. to name a few. NOT in that list is ghost mobs, undead/skeletal and beasts on 2 legs. raptors etc ( cause some idiot would mention raptors on 2 legs.... u know it )

I believe there are exceptions though. For example, Wendigo in Dun Morogh are coded as Humanoids (in their mouseover) but can be skinned and don't drop cloth at all. Dunno if this applies to Yeti (who, I believe, are the higher level versions of Wendigo) though.

But the above is generally on point. Wool can appear on mobs as low as 15 (rarely) and becomes fairly common at 18, in my experience.

I also noticed that wool did not start dropping for me regularly until i was at the point i needed wool for skill-ups in tailoring

In north lakeshire, in the cave where the orcs are (champions and what not) they are strong, but drop wool 2-3 at a time. Plus if you are strong enough to defeat them, you will gain alot of XP from it too.
