Mining/Engineering questionsFollow

Ok, I have a goal, and that's to get engineering to 245 before I get past level 20.

Now I've been doing alright, I guess. I got to level 114 Engineering yesterday fairly quickly, and even picked up a few schematics cheaply while doing so.

Now I should be able to get from 114-150ish without losing more than a gold or 2, which is fine, I can make it back fairly fast.

However, after 150, alot of the recipies need an insane amount of ingredients. This will be hard on my low level wallet, as it takes an hour to get a gold (provided there's no other people mining around the Durotar/Drygulch Ravine area).

So I've decided to stick with recipies that don't have many ingredients, so it will be alot easier for me to make them. Iron struts and gold power cores.

However, I'm guessing gold bars are not cheap at all.

So I have a few questions:

1) Is there a place I can safely and consistently mine gold ore?
2) What level mining is needed before I'm able to smelt it?
3) Is what I'm planning even possible for someone my level to accomplish?

Thanks in advance.

Well, i will start with #3, as it is the most relevant.

Hate to say it, but no. It's not possible. Blizzard has skill caps in the game. That's why you see so many, "how do i get my skill past 150/225?" threads.

To skill up past 150, one of the requirements is that you first acheive level 20.

To skill up past 225, among other requirements, you must acheive level 35.

This is blizzards way of keeping high level tradeskills only for high level people and such. So, you're gonna have to wait.

You should anyways, engineering is hard enough on the wallet to buy everything off the Auction House.

Well, you'd get better advice from a higher level engineer, (one of my alts is 140 or so.) but there is a great cave (For alliance) in darkshire that has a few gold viens. Level 28ish ogres, so no, it isn't safe.

You won't achieve it, because higher mine veins/deposites are scathered withing higher level range mobs areas. Most mines at one place can be found at caves, and sometimes you can find chests within the caves. GL =)

trust me on this, you will never get that far, even if it were possible. I powered my engineering up to 180 so I could make scopes for my friends, but I had alot of support from high lvl friends sending me supplies, and it still cost me a good amount of gold.

Now the supplies I need sometimes aren't even on the AH, so im gonna have to be self sufficient. There is no way that someone our lvl could mine the neccessary mithril / gold / iron safely enough to level up.

i am a 31 night elf hunter and jsut wanted to sy that gold abrs arent too expensive, but if u go in the wetlands and find the SOLID CHEST's i find that u usually get 1-3 in those a descant amount of the time, and from engineering lvl 175-220 i spent a total of 50 gold, it took EVERYTHING i had, now besides farming a lot i can make ocol bombs, and i do definately love the compact harvest reaper, that lil dude kicks as*
