Fishing 101. How to start?

I've bought a fishing pole and went to the water... but how does one cast a line? Do I need to obtain the 'book' before I can begin to fish, or is that to move to a higher level? I did equp the pole and had in hand. Tried cliking on the water, fish, pole icon, but i'm lost here.

If you hit the letter P on your keyboard, that will bring up your abilities. On there you should have a fishing icon that you can drag to one of your shortcut bars at the bottom. Just click on that to fish. Right click on your bobber to reel it in.

Thanks, that was it. Because I had the pole equip'd the attack ability button showed as a pole. The fishing button was down at the bottom.
