PoisonFollow

What do I have to do to get poisoning as a profession? I've searched everywhere I could for it and still have come up empty. The night elf rogue trainer doesn't even allow me to learn any of the poisoning techniques without the profession learned and I can't seem to find a way of learning it. Is there some hidden quest or what?

Im from the horde, but it should be the same. I learnt my poisons as part of a class quest. This should be the same for you, you will eventually be eligable for a class quest which will allow you to learn poisons

You will get the quest at lvl 20. You will have to go to Stormwind and talk with the SI:7 people. The quest is hard, but in the quest hints section on this site there are some suggestions. I didn't complete it until lvl 25, and that was only because I got lucky.

What I want to know is who do I talk to so that I can get my skill higher than 140?

I am pretty sure poisons are just capped by your level, goes up 5 or so each level. Mine is at 145 and I havn't done anything special.

The alliance quest brings you to westfall after talking to the mi:7 people or whatever they are called in stormwind. When you go to westfall and find the tower you must climb, take off all of your armor and clothes. You are about to die a whole bunch, so just have 1 dagger equipped into your main.

First, steal from the lvl 24 zombies walking around the tower. You should receive a key.

Next, you need to get up the tower. Hit up your flee and try to run past the guards, because sneaking will be no use. Respawn as high up the tower as you can, eventually get to the top. When you are up there, use Sap on the elite guy guarding the treasure chest, then open the treasure chest.

Going to have to disagree with you here. I did the quest at 21 and only died twice, both from failed pick pockets before I knew the guys leash.

If you fail the pickpocket dash to the river asap, he will leash as soon as you hit the water. Also time your pick pocket as he makes his turn on his path, this will give you ample time to follow him before he turns again.

The sneak worked fine in the tower for me, just have to pay attention to the pathing and not lose your patience. There are 2 guards you have to worry about, watch the conversation text between them once you are in the bottom of the tower. If you tuck yourself in stealth up to the corner of the stairs on your left as you face in you will see one of them path to the right side stairs, scoot up the left side stairs and watch the pathing on the other. He will move to the right side of tower a bit and you can make it to the center stairwell without them even turning in your direction. As soon as you are up top, go the long way around to the back of the elite, get yourself at max sap range and slug him, turn quickly to your left and pick lock the chest. If you are positioned right you wont even have to move to pick the chest, grab your item, hit flee and run like the wind out of the tower and jump in the river to clear agro.

If you happen to miss the sap on the elite, just do the flee and run to the river trick and try again.

I've done this quest twice now and only died twice (with Muriel) when the Malformed drone resisted pickpocket and when sap missed on Klaven.

One thing to keep in mind and something that most folks don't think to check, you MUST have AT LEAST 80 skill in lockpicking to even have a chance at picking Klaven's chest. Until 80 skill, the chest will be red (your little gear pointer will always be black) but at 80+ skill, it will be its normal gold color. It's important to note because Lucius's chest (the pick lock quest target) only requires 75 skill to open so a lot of folks I've spoken to just get to 75 to get the token and complete that quest and wind up 5 pts short when it's time to get Klaven's.

I did this one last night with Camryn and it was cake. But, I had a partner (Paladin) who helped me out with it. Also, I had been concerned that the difference between my two rogues' builds would be an issue. Namely the fact that Muriel, as an ***/Sub rogue has MoD5 and Camryn only has MoD1 (which IMO gives the best bang for the buck for a combat rogue). But it made no real difference that I saw. From doing it with Muriel, I knew the drones' pathing so I just swooped in and jacked the key.

I brought help to handle the sap issue and it worked perfectly. Paladin distracted Klaven (since I don't have Distract yet) and I went in and got the chest. But you must first have Instant Poison before a trainer will allow you to train any others (Crippling, Mind-numbing, Deadly, etc) and you can only get Instant Poison from the quest. At least in my experience.

Jazheira said it right, i actually did the quest at lvl 20, but i knew kinda what to do since i played back in beta. For the alliance, you shouldnt have to fight a thing, but the horde quest is a lot harder since you have to kill some lvl 23-26 guys (And the 26 guy is elite im pretty sure). If you fail a pickpocket on the guy for the key, DONT FIGHT HIM. He might seem a decent match for you, but just wait till he hits you, it hurts.

For the poisons, it goes up 5 for each lvl. This is probably the main reason i love playing a Rogue. Crippling Poisons in PvP are awesome, and for the run-away humanoids. Good luck on the quest, it should be a piece of cake if you are Alliance.
