Level Cap Engineering?Follow

Engineering... Is there a cap to this past artisan. I am a level 40 warrior with a enginering skill of 225. I have trained in artisan and have specialized in gnomish engineering and have my membership card. I have also bought 2 items to make. I have been making yellow and orange items in bunches but yet still do not get any skill ups in engineering. Have done this all at level 40. Any ideas what I may be missing here?
