I’m certain every miner in the game has experienced this at one time or another. I certainly have. It’s best to just blow it off and move on. Dwelling on it will only get you more upset without changing the situation. But as others have posted, it doesn’t have to always be that way.
I spent a great deal of time, about eight levels, killing the ogres near Southshore with my paladin. I was grinding out levels trying to get to level 40 and my new mount. In the process I also leveled my mining to over 250, in spite of the fact that most of the server, including both factions, seemed to go there to mine ore. As mithril became green and it became harder and harder for me to gain skill, I decided to do something wild and crazy. When I raced up to a node and found someone already mining it, I would ask if I could take a swing for the possible skill point. To my complete surprise almost every single time I was allowed to do so. I never took any of the ore, as you don’t need to for skill. I’d just swing and back off. I gained a lot of points that way.
Perhaps people were willing to help me with my mining skill because I often helped people in the area with heals and/or killing adds. Perhaps people were willing to share their node because I actually took the time to ask permission instead of just rushing up and jumping their claim. Or maybe I just managed to find a lot of nice people. But whatever the reason, I greatly enjoyed my time there because of the incredible people I encountered.
We will always encounter jerkes. There’s no escaping that. But there are also a lot of nice people in game. Try to focus on them instead. And also try to be like them. You can make other players very happy just by showing them a small kindness.
