Just a quick question:

If I already have 2 main professions, but I want to stop Mining and start enchanting, how does that work?

click mining on your skills screen in the character profile, click on the little red circle with the slash through it. You will be asked if you really want to unlearn mining. Click yes. You will forgot you ever knew anything about Mining and have a free profession slot. You can then go to a Journeyman Enchanter and learn Enchanting as normal. If for any reason you want to take up mining again at a later date you will begin again at level 1/75 and will have to re-train everything as you get there.

The mechanics are already mentioned but realize that you'll likely be struggling to bring your enchanting up for a little while. I did the same thing. Either find a tailor who can get you a ton of green items to disenchant, farm low lev instances or get ready to spend money like no tomorrow.

One more thing to add. Do not enchant anything until you hit 50 skill or so. Just get a ton of green items and disenchant like crazy. You can only get disenchant skill points for a short while so max those out. Later on you'll either need to enchant gear for lowbies or just enchant the same bracer 20 times to get the skills out of it. (Nobody wants a +5 health to bracer enchant... even for free.)

Also realize that you're going from two gathering (cash making) prof to a cash sink prof (enchanting). On my server a stack of leathers goes for 15s light, 25s med, 30-40s heavy, 35-55s thick. You can score some low lev green items for about 25s and blue items start at 4G... you'll need those sooner than you think or you'll end up buying shards.

Either way - none of the "sellable" enchants come up until lev 150 which means.... big cash sink.

I'd try to get a good 5G-10G out of your current prof saved up before switching.

Sorry, I should have been more clear.

On my hunter, I keep Skinning and Mining for cash making purposes.

I was adding enchanting on my Rogue so that I can disenchant quest rewards and old replaced green items. I give the dust to my GF who is the main enchanter.

I play the rogue with my GF, and don't want her to have to wait everytime I see a mining point. Just makes sense for me since my hunter will be the main money maker for everything else.
