well if you want to work with leather, you will need to get skins. you can do this yourself, or get them from someone else. mch easier to get them yourself.

tailor would be the odd skill out in this case. it doesn't naturally go with either of the other 2 even if sometimes leathermaking requires some cloth items or vice versa.

There are like 2 leatherworking patterns that require a bolt of cloth; none that require other items a tailor would make.

If you want to do leatherworking, skinning is almost a must. At low and/or mid levels you will go broke trying to be a leatherworking and buying all your leather off the auction.

If you want to be a tailor, skinning is not a bad supporting profession. There are many patterns that require a piece or two of leather; and then you can sell your extra leather on the auction.

I have Skinning and Mining, and sell the things I harvest. I thought of going for Blacksmith or leatherworking, but the items you loot later in game is so much better than the once you can make.

I have tailoring and skinning, I use a tiny bit of the leather while making boots, but thats it, otherwise I make a pretty good profit at the Auction House from selling the leather, and I'm almost to level 20. Tailoring is best for casters becuse they can actually use the stuff thay make, but selling bags and making mooncloth is very important in end of the game stuff.

skinning supports both, but only minorly supports tailoring, you can be tailorer and not need skinning at all. you will need little leather for tailoring, but inless you want to mass produce bags, skinning isnt needed, just buy the few leather you need and use second slot for enchanting or other. leatherworking however, is supported completly by skinning, you can be tailorer without skinning but you cant be leatherworker without skinning, inless you want to spends lots of money.

skinning also minorly supports Engineering, leather is included in production of most goggles(head items), and very few devices. although not needed because its too little, just thought i would say.
