why blacksmithing? (noob question)Follow

#1 Jun 08 2005 at 12:27 AM Rating: Decent
I have noticed that it is getting harder and harder to lvl up blacksmithing and I have heard that I can make a lot of money just mining and skinning. but I think I saw a few items that required blacksmithing to use. is that correct? are there any other pros to having max blacksmith vs lots of gold?

later on 250ish you will have a few trinkets and mabye the ability to make some of the trade items that get the big bucks... these items im speaking of include mithril spurs, iron/mithril/thorium sheild spike and steel weapon chain... only blacksmiths can fit these items and if you are lucky you may even be able to make one/all of these... good luck.

295 WeaponSmith.

Blacksmithing saves you money too...

Instead of buying your equipment, make it!

blacksmiths can make keys to unlock chests - which also requires
having the blacksmith skill.

I think its worth it to make Arcanite Reaper. Whats the best thing an armorsmith can make?

Also I believe some wicked *** weapons will be available in the future, only thru blacksmiths

Blizzard has stated that the items we can make via professions were not intended to replace those dropped by mobs. So mob drops will always, over all, be better than what we can make. This is the reason many people are dissatisfied with production professions that make weapons and armor. But it’s not that simple. It never is.

It doesn’t mater how good dropped items are if you can’t get your hands on them. Some people are not members of large guilds. Some people don’t run instances very often. Some people don’t have a lot of money to spend in the auction house. The ability to make your own weapons and/or armor can be very useful for any of these people. And some people simply enjoy making things. I happen to fall into that group, as well as some of the others. So whether or not production professions are worth doing is very much a question of play style.

For those whose only reason for practicing a profession is to make money, then two gathering professions is most likely the best choice, such as skinning and mining. Again, it’s a mater of play style. Choose whatever works best for you.
