Enchanting ProblemsFollow

Hiya! I have a problem with my enchants.

My skill lvl is 118 now and I have brought all enchants (including minor beastslaying) but my big problem is that nobody want's to pay good money for enchants. Most will ***** me of and tell me if have to be grateful to get an skill-up.

I'm really getting tired of this proffession. I'm disenchenting all stuff I don't use anymore. And I have a crapload of dusts, essences and shards. But nobody wants to have my enchants and I think casting them on my own gear is a waste of rare goods and money.

Does Enchanting really get better at higher lvl? Is it worth it to maintain this money sink while I'm completly broke (only 3s at lvl 28)? And when I should ditch tailoring/enchanting, which profs should I choose? I'm not really into crafting gear (I hate it) so that leaves alchemy, enginering and the easy mining/skinning combo behind.

Can anybody help a poor shaman out?

it depends on what people are willing to pay. this is what i ALWAYS tell people who whine and moan about the prices:

"the supplies for this enchant are expensive. if you are willing to buy the supplies yourself, i will do the enchant for free (tips appreciated). otherwise, this is my price."

normally they will shut up after that. if you feel the need to, you can make them aware that you do NOT sell armor/weapons when you get them; instead, that money goes into getting dusts, essences and shards for enchanting. so, if you dont charge what you are, you are losing vast amounts of money.

in my experience, (my enchanting is currently at 260), the BEST selling enchants are the ones that make weapons glow. you will have a small percentage who want +stats to their armor, but mostly, they want a cool glowing weapon. make sure your prices are reasonable and competitive (ie, 40-60s for beastslay +2). and make SURE you let the public know what youre offering: "/2 WTS +2 Beastslay Enchant (RED Glow on your Weapon!) for only 50s!" if you arent quite clear, no one will notice your messages.

as for those asshats who criticize your prices, id reccommend getting friendly with other enchanters in your main city. there are 4-5 of us in IF on Skywall who watch each others' backs. one of us, a girl named butterfly, was very reasonably offering +5 damage to weapons for 5g. the people were brutal! you wouldnt believe that a 50s difference between what they WANT to pay and what the price is could make people call others a farmer! but we stuck up for her, and she's flourishing. butterfly's even passed me up (she already has fiery. XD).

so, in short, yes, the profits get MUCH better. just charge ~10% on top of costs and you should do great!

I never sold one enchant until I got +52h and +31h - before that i just did friends for free and over enchanted my own stuff. Now at 267 its hard going to get skill ups and over enchanting is expensive, but i will get there one day.

i know what you mean i just started enchanting and stuff and im only like lvl 15 and i haven't had anytime to even get the new things to enchant but its worth it from what ive heard and the only way i get skill up is enchanting friends or random people for free but all of my dusts and essences are free from a whole butload of green armour and stuff that i don't use that i stored earlier and pretty soon with my tailoring i just make clothes and armor to disenchant even a blue one for greater dusts and essences and ever shards...

Hey

I have had no problems with enchanting, sure Im broke all the time, but thats just something U get used to.

As for moneys, they come easyer when U pass lev 30 and can farm instances.
Just start to raid RFC or WC(im horde) and disenchant all U get, then sell the disenchants in AH.
There is no fee for selling shards/dust/essence so U can allso use the AH as a second bank, belive U me, U gonna need it. My whole main bank window is full of enchant stuff.
There is allways some lev 60 ppl that are starting a new char and wants to fast skill up in enchanting, so they will buy whatever U sell usually.

Mostly ppl will not pay for any enchant under skill level 225, but do free enchants for all friends and guild members, they will remember that later and then come to U for their enchants.

When I passed level 50 I helped out a couple of guild members and draged them with me on the instance runs when I went to farm for disenchants, and they are allways gratefull for the free quests they can complete.

I did tailor/enchant, but that isnt allways the best combo unless your a cloth wearer.

For moneys , try to do herb/skinning/minning to sell the crap.

Now at skill 275 Im still not selling many enchants, I do however call out when Im in Ogr that Im willing to do enchants if ppl get the stuff needed for the enchants, just so I can get up to 300 skill. But Im running 3 different char and I never seem to have enough ingrediants.

Whopper
Lev 55 Troll rogue
Skullcrusher

Ps: yes im doing enchant/tailor, im part of a group of rogues and that was what was left.

In my opinion, if you're so heavily against enchanting your own equipment over and over, enchanting may not be for you. I think that at the lower levels (pre-225) it's a very essential part of skilling up.

Of course, if you have tons of friends that let you enchant their equip thats good too. Often times, I ask my friends if they want enchants for free, but they turn me down (nicely) because they'd rather spend money on higher levels of the enchant I'm offering.

When I was around your enchanting level, I was trying to sell my enchants, minor beastslayer. I managed to sell one or two undercost (I didnt charge for strange dust since I had so many) At this point, I pretty much realized that I'm not gonna sell enchants until I'm 225+ and I'm okay with that (now, after much deliberation, heh) If you dont have this mentality, you will have a hard time with this profession.

Of course, enchanting gets better and is very much worth it at higher levels, what isnt?

Honestly, enchanting has never seemed to be a huge money sink for me. I know that I'm not making _as_ much money as I could if I sold the greens I found, but it never feels like I'm _losing_ money either.

I'm sitting at level 37 right now and I'm feeling pretty comfortable about the mount that I will be purchasing in three levels.

If enchanting is becoming a money sink for you, then youre doing something wrong and isn't necessarily related to enchanting. Allakhazam has a good guide on money making that you should take a look at if you havent already.

Well, good luck!
