Engineering - Goblin - VS GnomeFollow

Is there a good guide somewhere that lists which items can be created by which specialty?

I'm a Hunter so I am thinking big guns would be best. But the rocket helmet sounds useful as well.

This has probably been asked a hundred times, but I scrolled through about 10 pages and didn't see anything and a search came back with so many threads that didn't apply.

There is a goblin dragon gun which isnt related to the skills "Guns" which does damage to enemies in a cone in front of you. All other guns can be made by both goblin and gnome engineers.

Goblins get jumper cables XL (the smaller version can be made by either), the rocket helmet you mentioned, rocket boots, and several of the higher level explosives.

Gnomes get death ray, shrinker, world enlarger, mind control, underwater breather, net gun, and a version of the rocket boots that doesnt explode upon failure. They also get a harm prevention belt.

Both sides get a teleporter, gnomes to gadgetzan, goblins to ... I think its called everlook?

(On a side note, Gnomish Death Ray can crit for 4100+ ... guess which race I picked.)

Am I correct in my assumption that even though you pick one or the other, you can still use the equipment from the other discipline?

Unless the item is bop (like dragon gun or deathray) and doesn't have a engineering type requirement (world enlarger requires gnomish engineering), then yes the items crafted from one type of engineer can be used by the other type. The goblin jumper cables xl can only be crafted by goblin engineers, but can be used by both engineer types. Some other items are the shrink ray and net-o-matic.

To sum up either engineering, I'd say Gnomish Engineering is about the trinkets and Goblin Engineering is about the explosives. I'm not really sure which would be best for a hunter, I'd probably guess gnomish but that is just my opinion. As for guns it doesn't matter which you choose, both engineering types can build the exact same stuff involing guns (guns, ammo, and scopes).

Also the deepdive helm, which I think is what LarvalZen means when he says "underwater breather", doesn't have a engineering type restriction and can be built by both gnomish and goblin engineers.

The goblin rocket boots do have a chance to explode unlike the gnomish version, but the goblin version doesn't have a engineering requirment to use and can be used by anyone. Also goblin engineers can make a goblin mining helmet (mail armor) that gives you +5 to mining.

The goblin teleporter device does teleport you to Everlook in Winterspring. Not sure of what happens if it messes up teleporting you. The gnomish one to Gadgetzan in Tanaris when it messes up will teleport you up into the sky (but in Tanaris) resulting in you falling to your death (easy way to solve that is to just unequip weapons and armor so they don't lose durabilty).

I can tell you what happens when the teleporter messes up: you die.

Got the beejeebers startles out of me when a L60 gnome mage materialized next to me in Everlook. The next thing I know he keels over dead. Looks like they still need to work a few bugs out...

Had that one happen once. Seems to be a more rare ***** up. However turning into a Murloc...that's priceless.
