#1 Jun 24 2005 at 2:50 PM Rating: Decent
I'm at 161 fishing and I don't know where to lvl relatively quick for fishing. What areas should I be looking at as a Horde player? Kinda want a 150-200 area, 200-225 area, 225-250 area, etc if you guys know :) Thanks!

it doesn't matter where you fish if all you want to do is raise your skill. You can take fishing up all the way to 300 in a lowbie area.
You will be wanting to move to higher level areas when your skill allows it to catch stuff with more market value though.

Then someone tell me the secret. I have the Pat Nagle fishing rod and my skill is 210. I have fished about every hole I can think of and it has taken me hours to get from 206 to 210. I have fished in Feralas, Steamwheedle and evern ratchet with hardly any skillup.

Is fishing broken? I don't remember skillups being this difficult before.

Fishing isn't broken, it just slows way down after 210.
Keep plugging away at it, and fishing higher level areas.

Good luck.

I ended up fishing in Dustwallow Marsh where the NPC for the fishing quest is. My skill went up a lot quicker. So, I believe the area that you fish in does have alot to do with your skill level.

Anyway, I did get to 225 and did the fishing quest, and now my cap is at 300.

1. Get either one of thiese fishing poles:
Nat Pagle's Extreme Angler FC-5000 (for high level horde)
http://wow.allakhazam.com/item.html?witem=19022
Big Iron Fishing Pole (for everyone else)
http://wow.allakhazam.com/item.html?witem=6367

2. Get your fishing base skill to 225. It doesn't matter where.
Just find an area where the fish do not get away from you to often.
And yes, it takes a long time.

3. Do the Nat pagle quest.
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?wquest=6607

4. You are ready to go all the way up to 300.
Did this myself in the Feralas.

just keep on fishing

best places
Steamwheedle Port
Ferails (cant spell it)
Feathermoon stronghold
and when you hit 300
Deadwind Pass

Int is the key, when ya fish for skill up, put on int gear, eat food that help int, get pots that help int, the higher the int, the faster the skill ups come.

Umm… No.

This isn’t EQ. Stats make no difference whatsoever to any of the professions. Blizzard made that plane enough in one of their posts during beta. If it makes you feel better to equip intent items before you go fishing, rather like wearing a lucky shirt, then go for it. But the game mechanics don’t give a darn.

Mostly just fish. Every once in a great while we may pull up a potion or a lock box or some such. We used to get all kinds of magic items and we could sell our fish for a nice profit. But so many people abused the system so badly, by making bots to fish while they were away from the computer, that Blizzard pulled out the largest nerf bat to date and beat the fishing profession to a bloody pulp.

Blizzard recently stated that they are working on making fishing more interesting. I’m not sure if I should be happy or very very afraid.

Also, if you happen to be a Hunter, you DEFINITELY should take up fishing if you have a cat or other pet that will eat fish.
