I just started a new character to level Enchanting and Engineering with, and I am pretty much 100% clueless on both. But I'm a quick learner. Anyway, my questions are:

- At the beginning, I'm guessing you have to (or usually should) disenchant to gain your initial levels right? Or is there an easier, quicker way?
- What type of equips would give me Lesser Magic Essence? So far I've only obtained a variety of dusts and different degrees of Mystic Essence.
- (somewhat related to the first question) Is disenchant basically the main source of level gain?

Thanks in advance.

Disenchanting only helps in the beginning.
As I am typing this, my enchanting is lvl 145 and i don't get any lvl's from disenchanting.

And if you wan't magic essences try a deadmines run (or wailing caverns is good as well). There will probably be some items disenchantable into magic essences (greater or lesser).

And another hint. Try to find a helpful guild for such runs, i'm doing those pretty often now and i'm a lvl 32 hunter, together with a good friend who's got a lvl 48 warlock. This way its easyer to level it.

Disenchanting stops skilling up around 60, you'll have to enchant after that for skillups.

I'd just like to point out the other profession you've decided on...engineering will be mighty difficult without mining as your other profession. Perhaps not difficult, but costly as you'll have to buy everything off the Auction House. Something to keep in mind...

im enchanting 160 and the other day, i was enchanting my staff for +3 intellect to level up

the item was yellow so its supposed to level up each/every other time... as i did it the last time to get to 159, i ran out of reagents. so i took my silk out of the bank and decided to make some green items and disenchant those......
as i was disenchanting a certain robe i found that after disenchanting it about 7 times(i had a lot of silk) my enchanting went up to 160... so i think that it might still level you up, but after level 60 it takes like 100 times to disenchant something to gain a level from it

sorry about my grammar/spelling :)
