New type of Fansite dedicated to Trade SkillsFollow

#1 Jul 07 2005 at 6:08 PM Rating: Decent
Now in testing stage, a new kind of fansite dedicated to tracking the progress of members in their Trade Skills (only ones in which you learn skills, 9 in all).

This site should go over well with Guilds who want to track their member’s progress and be able to gather needed Plans, Schematics, Recipes, Patterns or Formulas.

I have a forums setup to post comments problems etc, please register to both the Database and the Forums and note that at this time, any data inserted into the database will be cleared out after about 2 weeks of testing, the Forums will not be cleared out and all registrations there will remain.

What I am looking for are people to check my spelling on the pages, this includes correct spacing, missing skills per professions, incorrectly checked boxes after submitting forms and any other inconsistencies you might find (more details on the forum there).

If the site is a hit, I will be adding a search engine to the site so members can search for a specific skill on a specific server in a specific profession and possible per guild.

Thank you in advance for helping test the site

Site can be found at:

sounds awesome... IMHO it be extremely difficult to keep track of peoples progress perfectly accurate?

i mean how would you know what talent they learned and so forth.

but in all other ways i think it would be really useful for members of guilds, or just characters on servers in general.

good work and good luck!

edit... by poison do you mean herbalism?
edit again... you forgot mining / skinning

The site is completely automated, you change the skills learned, not me, lol, if you learn a new skill, log in and add it to your profile, simple as that.

Poison is a Class profession, See here: http://wow.allakhazam.com/dyn/skills/tradeskills.html

while on that page, you may notice that Minning and Skinning, plus Fishing and Alchemy, do not require learning anything to progress in the profession, therefore, there would be nothing but a level to track, so those professions not requiring anything other than a level will not be tracked here, but they are listed in the forums for trading and sales in game.

Actually...

Minor Technicality...

With Mining, you need to learn the Smelting recipes. Mining ore is... rather useless if you don't smelt it. Hehe.

You could divide it up as gathering vs. production.

That way you'd have:
Herbalism
Mining
Skinning

And then:
Tailoring
Blacksmithing
Alchemy
Leatherworking
Engineering
Cooking (if applicable)
Fishing (if applicable)

With the latter 5 as the ones it would be neat to track. The first three are nice, but they support the others so the tracking on them doesn't make much sense to me.

Good ideas though.

Wow that is a nice site. I have just been looking here at allakhazam and slowly removing the recipes lister here from the ones I have and I am then left with the ones I need. Your site does all the work for me since now I can just check a little box when I find a new recipe and I don't have to wonder which ones I still need. I have a list of recipes I need but now I don't need it.

With fishing, you could consider a way to track the types of fish (or other stuff) you've managed to catch. Could be interesting. :)
