I am making a dark elf hunter, but i have no idea what trade skills to give him, any advice?
You're right: no clue.
You must be a Night Elf. There are a little over about a million posts on this. You could, you know, try to look over a few pages. Or check the Hunter forum. Silly things like that.
If you want to make your own armor and not spend as much on the AH, go Leatherworking and skinning. If you want to make money, go herbalism/mining and skinning. If you want to make consumables that can be very healpful to yourself do engineering; if you want consumables that benefit yourself and others, do alchemy.
