Very Basic Fishing QuestionFollow

I've recently trained on fishing, but I can't figure out how to fish.

I've bought a fishing pole and equip it in my main hand (where my sword usually is), but when I try to fish, its says I need to equip the fishing pole first.

Any help?

That's what I thought too. I've tried that, but still doesnt work.

Open your Spell/Abilities book. Under the first tab you will find a fishing Icon, click and drag it to your taskbar. If you only have one bar showing, you can either click on the icon or press the number associated with it to fish. Once you cast the pole, you then need to watch the bobber. It will be dragged under and splash when a fish is hooked. At that point you need to click on it to "catch" your fish.

Fishing is great fun and you sometimes catch things besides fish. My main is on her way to 300 in fishing and that quest was a blast.

Actually, fishing is a bit of an odd skill. You CAN fish in the same spot and gain skill. From what I understand you could go from 1 to 300 in the newbie area if you are so inclined. But you would only be pulling up low level fish. If you are using fishing to supply cooking materials or to feed a pet then you have to keep fishing up higher level fish to supply your needs. But if all you want to do is gain skill its best to fish in areas where fish do not get away from you, or at least not very many do.

Or, if you have need to fish in a higher level area, you can buy fishing lures. These lures will temporarily add points to your fishing skill. But such bait costs money and sometimes you just don’t have the coins to spend on it. Still, its an option.
