In Darnassus

The next time you’re in Darnassus talk to one of the guards. You’ll get a list of locations you can ask them about; among these are class trainers and profession trainers. They will not only tell you where to find the trainer your looking for, but you’ll also get an arrow in your mini map that will point the way.

Trainers can be found in other locations as well, but they tend to be rather scattered about. But you should be able to find each basic trainer type in any of the capital cities.

Also, fun fact:

When you talk to any "creation" profession trainer (Engineering, Blacksmithing, Leatherworking, Tailoring, Alchemy, and Enchanting), the first window to pop up will have one of three messages:

-"You're too low for me": This trainer will teach you recepies once you get higher skill.

-"You're the right level for me", followed by a link to available recepies: This trainer is your current trainer, and is the one you should go to whenever you want to see if you're high enough for a new recepie.

-"You're too high for me, but XXXX is the right level", followed by a link to available recepies: This is something that I think a lot of people don't see at first. If you actually read this first window that pops up when you talk to a trainer that's too low to teach you anything, he/she will tell you exactly where to go to find the next trainer. No more shouting in general chat or wandering the world (or Allakhazam), just talk to the NPC, read the text, and go to where you're told to go.
