There are three kinds of leatherworking

Elemental lw = great for rogues, use of elemental drops to make fe Stormshroud Armor with gives great set bonus. You can get the quest at lvl 225 at searing gorge. Some nice other rogue items like the Helm of Fire can be made.

QUEST:
Level 55 Leatherworking
Obtained at level 40 Alliance
Bring 2 Heart of Fire, 2 Globe of Water, 2 Core of Earth, and 2 Breath of Wind to Sarah Tanner in Searing Gorge.

Completing this quest will give you access to the Elemental Leatherworking arts.

The completion of this quest will prevent you from learning Dragonscale Leatherworking and Tribal Leatherworking; be sure this is the path you wish to follow before doing so.
Heart of Fire: 0/2
Breath of Wind: 0/2
Core of Earth: 0/2
Globe of Water: 0/2

Elemental leatherworking is what I know, and if you're willing to open your mind to the greater powers of substance, I will share with you all there is to learn.

Know this, <class>: by choosing this path you agree never to learn dragonscale or tribal leatherworking; there is only room for practice of one of the three arts. Furthermore, I'll need adequate proof that you are in tune with the elements of nature; to that end, bring me the purest essences of fire, water, earth, and wind.

Rewards
4200 XP
Starts and Ends at:
Sarah Tanner
<Master Elemental Leatherworker>
Searing Gorge

Tribal lw = also great for rogues due to the devilsaur leather pieces. Make a great buck if there are many rogues in youre server. Set bonus is nice, chance to hit +2% and +2 crit extra :D.
The quest is given to you at the flightpath in Feralas.

QUEST:
Level 55 Leatherworking
Obtained at level 40 Alliance
Bring a Wild Leather Vest and a Wild Leather Helmet to Caryssia Moonhunter in Feralas.

Completing this quest will give you access to the Tribal Leatherworking arts.

The completion of this quest will prevent you from learning Dragonscale Leatherworking and Elemental Leatherworking; be sure this is the path you wish to follow before doing so.
Wild Leather Helmet: 0/1
Wild Leather Vest: 0/1

To learn tribal leatherworking demands an understanding of how primal nature truly is; I know that you have already mastered the art of making wild leather armor, and I am willing to complete your training.

Know this, <class>: by choosing this path you agree never to learn dragonscale or elemental leatherworking; there is only room for practice of one of the three arts. Furthermore, bring to me the finest samples of your wild leather armor. From there, we will begin your mastery.
Rewards
4200 XP

Starts and Ends at:
Caryssia Moonhunter
<Tribal Leatherworking Trainer>
Feralas

Both elemental and Tribal have nice extras, elemental (which i am) fe has some nice druid stuff as well, the only thing is that you will have to grind for the patterns or buy them at the AH. Stormshroud Armor for example, drops in Azshara at the murlocs. The drop rate on the mats isnt very high imho and are quite expensive at the AH.

Dragonscale lw = mail

QUEST:
Level 55 Leatherworking
Obtained at level 40 Alliance
Bring 2 Tough Scorpid Breastplates, 2 Tough Scorpid Gloves, and 10 Dragonscales to Peter Galen in Azshara.

Completing this quest will give you access to the Dragonscale Leatherworking arts.

The completion of this quest will prevent you from learning Elemental Leatherworking and Tribal Leatherworking; be sure this is the path you wish to follow before doing so.
Worn Dragonscale: 0/10
Tough Scorpid Gloves: 0/2
Tough Scorpid Breastplate: 0/2
Dragonscale leatherworking isn't easy, but it's extremely rewarding. I'll teach you how to make this fine mail armor, but only if you agree to certain conditions.

By choosing this path, you agree never to learn elemental or tribal leatherworking; there is only room for one of the three at the apex of the craft. Furthermore, I'll need some a sample of your best work involving scorpid armor. Finally, I'll need proof of your ability to acquire the staple of the trade: scales of the dragonkin.

Rewards
4200 XP
Starts and Ends at:
Peter Galen
<Master Dragonscale Leatherworker>
Azshara

You have to grind for the items in the Burning Steps and UBRS after completing the quest, at least that is where i get my dragonscales.

I hope i have given you some answers which one to chose, keep in mind that a few bucks can be made from all depending on the demand in youre server, and if youre in a guild youre skill can help the guild as well.

Good luck on youre choice.

Nightstone, lvl 60 Human Rogue, 310 Skinning, 300 Elemental LW
Nightghost, lvl 39 Nightelf Hunter, 205 Mining, 180 Blacksmith

I went elemental, but in the end tribal would have served me better. Stormshroud armor was way too tough to create until level 60 and by then it is best to simply sell it. I had to ask a guild druid tribal LW to make me a devilsaur leaher set. It is amazingly good. I would advise either way. Tribal is great for stamina and of course: Devilsaur armor. Elemental isnt all that great :P. At level 60, i advise you to drop leatherworking altogether and pick up engineering. LW is useless 100% at level 60. Good Luck to you
