Enchanting 255 and aboveFollow

I am a lvl 46 mage with enchanting at ~255 and am having trouble selling my wares. The enchants have gotten to the point where they are too expensive to "give away" and too expensive for the average person to buy. For example: The mats for +4 DMG 1H are 2x large Radiant shard (6g each), and 2x Greater Nether essence (3.5g each), for a total of 19g retail for the Mats. The standard cost on my server is 26g for that enchant I charge 24g (cost of mats x 25% markup) and catch a bunch of flak from other enchanters. The problem is that no one will pay it, they won't even pay the 19g for the mats. I have gone through most of my "skillup" orange enchants and they are all like that. People will not pay even for what the Mats cost.

What enchants have all you out there found sell well around 255? Am I just supposed to eat some out the cost of the mats to get the skillups to get to better enchants or have I missed something?

My 2 best sellers are stil +5dmg 2H and +3 dmg 1H for 5/6g respectively, but both are now gray and offer nothing to me (except profit) what enchants sell at least for cost in your experience?

This is the bigest issue I see, and a common one with new enchanters. You cannot look at the medean AH price and base the actual cost of the mats, AH is inflated and is basicly a luxry, as with any profession the Mats sell for more than the product. you shouldnt be buying those mats at the AH the best way is to farm a instance with some close freinds, and just nuke the BoP Blues and the like, good freinds will encourage you to do so unless it is a upgrade for them. Heck I payed 12 gold for a 2 handed +7 enchant I doubt guy was getting ritch but far from hurting himself if he acualy farmed the Mats(isnt that hard).

I am still laughing at ¼ of the overpriced AH price as your "Fee". Heck do as you please but to me that seems outragous, I recomend getting some buddies To Help and then it is all proffit, no matter what you sell it for.

Why would you bother enchanting at all if you're not gonna sell the enchants for more then the mats on the AH. I've been a 300 enchanter for a long time now and always sell my enchants for more then the mats would go for on the AH. The trick is not to push it. keep a good stock of mats in your bank and make a macro that lists some of the chants you think would sell the best and their prices ( for me this is about 4 lines long). Then everytime you enter Orgrimar/Iron forge, just hit the macro once, you'll get the occasional response and get a skill off the person. Just be patient and try not to spam the macro too much or you'll get on a lot of higher lvl peoples ignore lists (and since these are usually the people with the cash to buy what you're selling it's kind of counterproductive). Just be patient and sell when you can (prime time is usually pretty profitable for me). 300 will come eventually then you can stop caring whether people will pay your price, some will, some won't, no skin off your back if they don't just save the mats for the next person.

If you farmed the mats they still have a value attached to them defined by the auction house. If you sell your enchants for less then you can get for the materials on the auction house you are essentially wasting money (once you stop getting skills off them anyways).

Thanks to all for your opinions. They are highly valued by me.

I have found that though i can get mats for less then the AH it really does me no good to charge less. Most people arn't willing to pay 26g for a +4dmg to 1H, nor are they willing to pay the 18g it costs me for the mats so it is a moot point. I either take a loss on it, or don't worry about selling it. The ones I have had success with is the demonslaying enchant. It has the same firey look but for about 1/3 the cost. I only need 4 more skillups to get the firey which I get asked about often. I am hoping that will be a good seller. I know it will be slow going, I will be patient.

I was very excited about the fiery weapon enchant too, and my guildies helped me a lot to get to where I am now (281 enchanting), but they expect kickbacks too, and the fiery weapon enchant will put a hole in your wallet the size of a Tauren's hoof. You can have skill-ups and profit, but rarely at the same time. Enchating is an expensive profession. If you want to play with the big boys, take the loss and get your skill ups. If you are in no rush, charge the going rate or more (although I think 25% mark-up is a helluva lot) and break even or make a bit on the side, but be prepared to wait a long time.

Best of luck, though!

I believe I made a crucial error. I believed that you could brak large shards in to 3 smaller ones. I know it can be done with essences and I swear that I read somewhere that it could be done. But alas it cannot. I have a plethora of large shards (15x Large radiant, 25x Large brilliant) that I have been collecting for quite some time now. When I got my Fiery enchant i had planned on breaking the large ones into smaller ones. Terrible!

No big deal...just sell your large shards on the AH. They sell VERY well.
